I found a 1988 Honda Accord LX for sale just down the street from me.

Looks OK, rough paint on top, some rust around the rear glass, signs of some body work on the right rear quarter and door. Right rear taillight does not line up. Dinged rear corner on the bumper, missing the horn covers on the front bumper. Muffler rusted out.

Interior look to be in very good shape, no tears on the seats, factory floor mats, door panels, dash all look good. Power widows, lock and mirrors

Under the hood, looks like somebody went crazy with shiny black and silver paint (How I hate that. Just clean it good why don’t you?) signs of fresh radiator hoses and a new radiator. Everything else appears stock. It is a carburetor 3G with a 5 speed manual. Odometer is showing 129K. Have not cranked it or driven it.

Sign on car is ‘all new parts’, $2000 ‘firm’ I’m having a hard time finding what the car should be worth. The only website I found that has prices for a 1988 Accord is the NADA site:

Original MSRP $13,460
Low Retail $2,175
Average Retail $3,325
High Retail $5,225

Do you think it might be worth $2000 if it drives OK with no major problems?

i'd offer him 1500
2000 seems a little high. since your gunna need a new muffler and its showing signs of rust

I'm worried about the trunk and tail lights not lining up. Was the car rear-ended? That car would get $2,000 easy around here, but try him for $1,500, yeah.

$1500 sounds like a good place to start. Looked at the picture again and noticed the LX emblem is missing from the rear panel. Another sign it may have been hit in the rear corner.

I picked up my SEI coupe for $2300 down in SC a little over a year ago. I would shop around as i seemed to find a fair amount of accords down south when i was shopping for a rust free car.

Yeah, but not with 129k.
