K so i just bought another 89 accord that was in nicer condition from an auction. It had been stolen and hot wired. We were able to jump the acc, run, and hot wires together then touch hot to the starter at the broken ignition switch to drive it. I took the working steering column out of my other 89 accord and hooked it up. I have accessories but no run (no cel light on the dash) and no start now. Everything else on the column still works including the headlights and blinkers. To test it again we hooked the mangled harness back up and jumped it and it worked. Why would the new column and ignition not be working when in it worked perfectly fine in car we just took it out of?

Thanks for any help.

Try switching the electrical part of the ignition switch

Alright. Pulled the ignition switch out and varified that it worked properly when tested. Started looking aroung and saw that the 40 amp ignition fuse under the hood was blown. Replaced that and now everything works except the fuel pump. They had a completely seperate wire ran and jumped to the fuel pump to start it. The fuel pump fuse I found under the dash was good. Any ideas?

It may not be of much help, I set my car up for keyless start.

and I had to rewire the ignition to 2 switches and a button. it might help you figure out the wiring.

Also have you checked the main relay fuse?

I jumped another wire from the fuel pump to the fuel pump fuse slot in the dash fuse box. Have power to that circuit with the key on and can now start it with the key. Is there a fusible link or relay or balast between the fuse box and the pump plug under the trunk?

Sounds like your main relay is shot.

k main relay. Where is it? what all does it control? why would there be a main relay AFTER the fuel pump fuse in the circuit?

I don't remember what all it connects to, but I remember having to replace mine when I worked on the car.
