Well as some you know i own 2 accord coupes. I've been working on the Black car on and off but since i have more time now and some money to do tiny things here and there. I finally decided to go OBD1 on the car since im doing the wiring work and wanna get'er done. Here are some Pics of the car in it's current state and slowly coming along.

These engine bays really arent meant for that great of a tuck. Too many vac lines and hoses run all over the place in a random fashion. It looks good for whats been done. Short of eliminating everything but the heater these engines always look cluttered

i have a question: when you go obd1. i know that you need a O2 Sensor on the downpipe. But will this require 3 O2 sensors or just 2? i have a dc header on the car and not sure how it would work. lol since rendon went turbo and Roach when turbo i dont know what to block or which number to run it in if i need all 3 sensors.

gfrg88

Should just need two... I have none..

I would assume you don't use one of the two from the top. So you would just have the new one you added at the down pipe and one of the two from above. Put i'm not completely sure on that.

i was thinking that but then comes this: would i have to block 4 to1 O2 Sensor or 2 to 3 O2 sensor?

I came up with this answer maybe block sensor 2 to 3 and put it on the down pipe?

From what i was just reading on team integra obdI only uses one o2 sensor which would go at the down pipe. So i guess the other two you would not need and could simply block them.

Also mine is Auto so maybe thats why it don't look as good... that will be coming out since i don't like driving auto so 5spd is gonna be here soon probably in November with a better tuck.

I only used a single o2 sensor when I swapped to obd1. A 4 wire one from either a civic or accord(1990+), I can't remember because I was searching for the one that connected to my harness correctly.

Update:
I got the broken header bolt off and DC header is now on :D. Also Cleaned up the Dizzy and Thermostat Housing since it was rusted inside so it shines like a mofo and ill be replacing all sensors on it and be picking up a NEW radiator for it and start hooking up the Cooling system. Gonna buy some Slim Radiator fans and use the old fan connectors and splice them to make them OEM. Also will be getting a Quick Release Steering wheel for it and a couple of Gauges for temp, volts and fuel Pressure Gauge. Lots of stuff coming very soon. once im done with this car im gonna tear down Rhonda and will await the same process.
this guy is gonna be busy :) and showing some love to the car.

More News:I'm Gonna Get 2 Shorties from Chedda

Here the Housing cleaned up
http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/Prettyboi_22_/IMAG0152.jpg

Well some of it lol a lil hard scrubbing and you'll get that
http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/Prettyboi_22_/IMAG0153.jpg

I already order my new sensors from rockauto a bit pricey but should be worth it. Gonna shave the top right of the housing so the dizzy can fit properly.

thats definitely minimalistic right there. It looks great but all those holes from the systems mounted in the bay. shave and fill all those holes and that would be a great engine bay. Looks great

Hmmm did a lil bit of digging around in forum and found out that the 1987 prelude 5spd trans bolts on to our car of course but im shock since im guess that the prelude has a bit more HP. So ill be picking one of those 5spd trans and if im lucky to find a prelude a20a3 then ill be more than happy to use that as a donor for Rhonda and have a spare motor to build :).

Myquickcoupe: ima try to get it neat as possible like hondamonsters. hopefully it cools down over here cause its been warm and sometimes hot to work outside.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190590443779&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_500wt_969

Yup thats right ;) decided to use this since i wont be needing the A series one so....can't wait to get it and start doing some work on it to make it fit and buy a bisimoto Intake manifold gasket... this car is gonna cost me some money but should be worth it in the end i hope :). Also gonna get an estimate on the downpipe and to weld something for the OBD1 O2 sensor and ill post pics when i get the stuff ready before the install for ya Old Geezers :) oh and for them noobs as well!

Also um what Throttle body should i get for this? doesn't say the Diameter of it but im thinking a 68mm throttle body? or should i get the 70mm?

elpuma
10-26-2011, 07:57 AM
I think the bore is 64mm so if you get the 68mm or 70mm throttle body you gonna need to bore it.

Looking good bro. Dont go all beast on the throttle body 68 max. To big cause a lean mixture. Unless you have a buildt head it wont make a difference. Bigger is not always better LOL. Looking good thou. Remember when i sold you that obd1 dizzy YOU have to grind down your Thermo housing a bit not much. But other then that its pie. You also going to need some square type washers to hold down the dizzy. Good luck and great work.

will do and i notice that it rubs slightly but shouldn't be a problem grinding it down to make it fit properly :D

Thanks! I plan to fill all that this winter after the last few shows this season. I'll also be getting rid of all the brake lines in the bay.

Sorry to thread jack, op. I was just throwing that up there for reference.

well i don't really know but they shaved down some areas to make it fit.

Also im gonna put this project on hold cause i really need a car to be in. So im gonna do the "stock" build so it can be done alot sooner maybe in 2 weeks. i need a new block for Rhonda since the block is no good anymore. ill post pics when the black coupe is complete.

I think there's a how-to :)

Ooor, you could buy a plate. I think they're much better, just cause if you have to replace you can do so without having to worry about modding it again :)

What's the advantage of going to obd1? you planning on tuning at some point? it seems like a decent amount of effort.

being able to tune the timing is the biggest. our distributors work off vacuum. Upgrading to obd1 with an electronic dizzy opens up so many options to tune. it's just the cool thing to do :D
