I have an 87 lxi hatchback, it has nonpassive seat belts (regular belts hanging on b pillar)
Will a drivers door with pas
sive belts (belts hanging on door) bolt up?

If your car's seatbelts are on the b-pillar, it's an '86. 1987-1989 have the passive seatbelts. Yes, the the door will work, but it will look stupid.

At the moment I dont really care if it looks stupid. Also, I know for a fact my car is an '87 and it has seat belts on the b pillar, my friend has an '88 and his seat belts are also on the b-pillar. I may have an 87 made before they transitioned. I just want a door so I can drive my car.

Thanks for the help!

Sure, it's on the pillar if his '88 is a sedan, but if they're both hatches...they're '86's. The laws changed in 1986 which is why Honda changed the seatbelts for 1987.

Well mine is still registered as an '87. :P

Charlie are you sure? The passive doors have a lot more steel in them and some reinforcements in the window frame like mating pins. I'm not saying your wrong, just that the doors are pretty different.

Hmmm...sold late? I work at a dealership, it happens all the time, I guess.

Anyway, Snooz: the doors are very different, but they both bolt up and work. It will just look/be hella stupid, haha.

...you should just wait and find the correct door.

Yeah, I took pictures of both door jambs, they are pretty different. I think if you remove the upper latch pins in the door jamb then they would bolt up. But I found an '86 LXi hatch door at an all Honda wrecking yard 30minutes from my house.
