I know that Australia has very stringent rules for any modified vehicle, but would this also be the case for New Zealand?
AccordB20A
12-10-2011, 01:39 AM
i think aussie is worce. over here you can get away with mods if the car is certified as safe by a registered certifier guy that charges you 400 bucks and tells you to put in a CAT then you get a plate riveted to your engine bay that tells you what engine and suspension and wheels you MUST have to pass wof. and if you change any of those a re-cert is required. fuck that, im keeping it b series haha
so since it already has a cert for adjusties, wouldn't you 'legally' need teh sized wheels that the cert tag thingy says?
AccordB20A
12-10-2011, 12:13 PM
cert plate will be removed. even then all it says on the cert is OE engine OE wheels and adjustable suspension. if i ever get 'justiez ill rivit it back on

temporary engine, original B18CR, used about a litre of oil going to auckland and back, smokes like a bitch. cant expect too much the cars had a hard life and done 210000kms
running OBD1 with a chipped P08 and a stock crome b18cr map. Engine is mated to a open diff Y21 gearbox i got for $80 from a EG9. Had a fucked diff so i swapped another open diff in for now as i was in a hurry to get the car working. i have a ITR LSD to put into this box eventually.

fixed the vtec tonight. solenoid filter was blocked up as well as the VSS plug cut off. I soldered it back on. Im still running the ITR tune on my OBD1 ecu so the motor doesnt run the best, Off-VTEC its fine, good torque/mid range but as soon as it come on vtec at 5800rpm it falls on its face for a bit until around 6800rpm it starts taking off and pulls all the way to 8k (at least)
i wont take it over 8k

Well it lasted a month but after a little spirited driving the other day the knocking started getting louder and louder. i had 40kms till i was home so i was taking it easy hoping to get it home in one piece so my B16 head wouldnt get fucked by piston(s) smashing into it.
5km from home the engine wouldnt idle but i made it another 3km before i got on my home straight turned the engine off and coasted the remining 2kms in my gate down the drive and into the shed. Before i turned the motor of it was clatring and banging and squeeking like it was about to give out.
long story short the engines out and im picking up a b18C+b16 head this weekend and that will be enough for now. i have no money at the moment to rebuilt a b20b block.

also i forgot to add i found soon after i installed my B18C it was an autyomatic b16a head on the B18C block so thats why i couldnt hear vtec. i put the manual cams out of my b20vtec in now its loud as and pulls much better. the oil leaks have slowed down now its got good new oil in it and its reliable as. Great work. You definitely know your way around an ITR engine bay. My son has a 93 EJ and is ready for a motor swap. I have another engine and trans for the swap but waiting for the auto trans to fully take a dump. Trying to get the vtec up and working properly was another learning experience. He really wants to do a 5sp swap but I already have a whole engine/trans for change out. Great work!

Ive been waiting for a set of front koni shocks to show up for ages now and i finally got my hands on some. They are adjustable at the top like my rears so i can adjust the dampening from top on all four shocks. I also picked up some rsr springs cheap from a mate and today i decided to installs them.

Well now i have all the gear to road tune this son of a gun me and a couple of mates went out for a drive one fine evening.one mate monitoring the A/F gauge and one on the laptop and my driving. 3 hours later we put together a tune. Couldnt believe the extra power i got, After tuning just the low cam with VTEC disabled the car felt as fast as it was beforehand on vtec.
Anyways a week later i was driving and the car all of a sudden started making a horrible metal on metal scraping sound. i was like oops that sounds like its gearbox related so i left the car at my mates workshop and yesterday i swapped the box with my spare. Tonight after driving it home and pulling the old box apart this is what i find:

cant really lower it....its been certified at that height. if im more than 5% lower or higher i get a wof fail and possibly ordered off the road.
In saying that if i drill the cert plate rivets out no one will know/care as long as the cars 100mm off the ground at the lowest structural point.

Bought an itr shell with front guards and bonnet to replace my broken one. we took a set of hubs up and my rays TE-37 wheels to roll it on, Loaded it up on the trailer in auckland (400km away) and headed back.
Suddenly in a small town 1/4 way back we were coming around a bend in a 70km/h area which had an intersection on it when i noticed a small truck with no signs of stopping coming right for us, I couldnt stop so i went to the right since the other lane was clear HOPING the truck driver would have enough room to stop. But nope. BANG right in the passenger side of the legend coupe i was towing with. the L/R wheel smashed to bits and was stuck under the truck while me and a trailer with ITR on the back went uncontrollably sideways and onto a grass verge. i did a fucking good job at keeping the trailer behind the car cause i DID NOT want my new integra shell to be damaged. BUT somehow the truck had molestered the left hand side of the trailer my RF guard and 1 X rays TE-37 bit the dust. i was filled with almost uncontrollable RAGE but got over it pretty quick. ill put pictures up when i get them. My gf came up in her Auto B20A accord and we bend the trailer back into shape so the wheel would turn and i towed it home.
Truck driver was drunk, Police took him away. An awesome couple that stopped towed BOTH of our cars to their house with their nissan patrol. and then towed the trailer with ITR to pirongia where we met up with my gf and i towed it home. Good to know there really still are some true GC's out there still! The legends at their farm until whenever we wanna pick it up.
