I'm on several other boards with this same user name so trying to minimize confusion as to who am I on what board. I have an old school muscle car that is a Plymouth Barracuda Formula S with 383 engine (originally). So, this explains the username. I bought a 89 LXI 4dr/auto trans in April 2008 with 195,000 miles on the odometer. I got it from the original owner with a stack of repair reciepts. So, i know most of its service history an i talk with the guy once a week too. He has a 89 Prelude with less than 100,000 miles ... same color. He has the nicer B20 engine.

Back to me. I've been on your board for about a week or two and didn't want to neglect telling you about me and why I'm here. I am a previous owner of a 1992 Accord LX that served me well up to about 150,000 miles when i sold it to my brother. He drove it until around 275,000 miles. I don't know what he did with it after that. I love Hondas as they handle well, show spirited performance for a 4 cylinder, and are straight forward to work on.

I'm working the minor things out of the 89 Lxi for a starter car for my daughter. She is nearly 14. So, i have a while before she will be in it. I put a nice stereo in it during the summer of 2008. The head unit is a Pioneer Premier with CD and iPod hookup. 4 channel speakers with separates up front and 6x9 out back. all is driven by a Rockford Fosgate power series with 127 Watts RMS per channel on the birth sheet. This is waaaay more stereo than the Accord needs. high power generally means clean crisp sound when run a low/normal levels.

Future work for the 89 includes either stopping the racket in the rocker arms of the A20A3 engine or possible switching in a B20 engine and manual trans. A B18C would be wonderful but i'm going to resist that if my daughter is going to be innthe drivers seat. Rebuilding the A20A3 might be the sensible thing to do to limit her power potential.

Welcome from California! Sounds like the valves need a good lash adjustment. That should quiet them down. The A-series is a solid engine. Keep it if you can.

Welcome to the forum! I think you should stick with the A20 since the JDM B20A is hard to find. I know you say this car is for your daughter but I'm pretty sure you'll end up buying another for yourself. Post pics of the cuda and accord when you can.
