I am planning on Shaving the side molding off my 89 Lx-i. I want to just make the doors and side all smooth. What is the best way of doing this with Bondo. Filling it layer by layer? I am up ofr any suggestions and tips.:sadwave:

You need to have metal welded in place and just a little "plastic body filler" (Bomdo brand tends to crack eventually). I would use Evercoat which is what most body shops use, that is what the paint department at the Freightliner / Western Star truck manufacturing plant use to cover any blemishes inthe cabs of the trucks. Probably the easiest to use also.

Bondo works for smaller stuff.
But filling the side molds, imo is too big a job for it and it will crack later.

yup, the purpose of bondo is to fill in small imperfections in the car. that's why if you have a dent, you gotta use a dent puller first to try to get it as close as possible to the original shape. so, you gotta weld pieces of metal to make it look good. or you can go the other way and just cover up the holes after you take off the molding (check "1/2 shaved moldings?" thread) if you wanna wait, i'll post pics when im done, not later than halloween.
