I haven't visited here in a while, and some may know but I sold the 3g. Reason I sold it was because it was getting up in there in mileage, and I transfered schools and the school is up in the mountains so I wasn't going to deal with the carburetor. Aside from that, the rear end also needed an overall. However, she still runs great, and the new owner loves the car and daily drives it without issues. I sold it with 208k.

So what's in store now? I have a 1992 Ford Ranger, yeah I went American. I couldn't pass up the deal, the truck was $500 with 92k miles on it, 4 cylinder, 5-speed, 4wd(big selling point). The truck needed nothing, but some of you know I am a perfectionist and I have itchy hands, so it quickly turned from being a beater into another project. :chainsaw:

Here is how the truck looked on the second day I got it, of course I got it stuck in a creek.

So after that, I ended up going into a mud pit which somehow bent my harmonic balancer and then snapped the crank sensor right off. :slap: So I ended up getting a new harmonic balancer, CPS sensor, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, all hoses, and a tune up while I was at it.

The mud hole:

Then I painted the wheels as they were rusty.

So I got bored with that, and went ahead and did a 4" lift on it, and also tinted the rear tails and installed a class 5 hitch.

With a new lift, I couldn't use the old tires or rims, ew right? So I ordered some Cragar's for it and Dunlop tires.

So new rims and tires mounted, along with fog lights.

So then comes tint and a F350 push bumper. This bumper has came in handy many times so far.

Moving onto the interior, I got tired of the bench seat. So I fabbed up some brackets to fit on the stock seat rails, and put in some bucket seats.

I don't have pictures of the audio setup, but I have a sub box in the middle of the seats that I made to fit perfect in there, and it acts as an armrest. It holds a JL Audio W3 10", powered by a Polk Audio 800 watt amp behind the seat with a cap. I also have Autometer gauges installed inside for the voltage and engine temp. I also replaced all the metal brake lines, and the rubber lines with SS brained lines. Has all new calipers, pads, rotors, rear drums, shoes, springs, and cylinders. Also has new front wheel bearings, rear axle shafts and axle bearings. All fluids changed all the way around as well.

Now for the biggest project with this thing so far, was installing A/C. I am a fat kid, so heat is my worst enemy. This truck was not equipped with A/C, it was an option from factory. So I went to the junkyard, got all the necessary parts and went ahead and installed it. Everything was a breeze minus the wiring so the compressor would cycle, but I got it all figured out and now my fatness is nice and cool in the summer. Also, to accommodate the extra load on the motor resulting in heat, I installed a 4.0L V6 radiator which required custom hose routing, along with a 14" electric puller fan.

Man, I didn't know a ford ranger could look so though with an F350 puch bumper!

love those rangers although I don't fit in a regular cab at all no way unless there were some mighty fancy buckets put in and a armrest.
Those can easy be converted to straight axle in front using Dana 44 from abundant Jeeps like YJ and XJ .. just a little welding for trailing arms, Hell I think even the spring perchs line up on some depending on hardware you wanna use.
Lug pattern is the same too.

I would love to find about a 98 model 4.0 liter with the big automatic, not many around but an awesome ride. Im wary of those five speeds in rangers, explorers, f series up to a 250 they used a mazda tranny that has rubber plugs on top of the case that can randomly fall out and dump your fluid out on the road. Many of them in the junkyard just for that reason.

anyhew, good to hear from you, love the truck man and have fun!

Thanks guys. I've been around, just really busy with school and since I live on my own now getting my personal life together. After I made this thread, I went home to see my parents and since they are moving away to Texas, my father graciously gave me his truck. So now I will be selling the Ranger most likely, and rocking this...

It will get mods, just not right away. This one is expensive to mod.

I always thought those Avalanches looked too much like Azteks. Not my cup of tea, but probably a reliable commuter car.

eh awesome how? it's like the escalade truck and honda ridgeline, i don't care for the back end design or the overall bulkiness.

i do appreciate that at least the chevy and gm versions are REAL trucks with real 4wd available right? not 85-15 like the "Realtime AWD" honda on a unibody.

The AV was never my cup of tea either, but it grew on me. It is a dependable truck with tons of room, lots of torque, and has real 4x4. The fading cladding is going to get painted black, so it will look good once I get done with that. Despite the small bed it has, it can still be loaded up.

my sis has had two, one like this which we took across the field they call a driveway at 45 mph and was like riding on a cloud. Same ride in my ex-Silverado or the F150 Scab was be a heep more jouncy.
Also like the picture shows, pretty versatile.
All that said the 2008 she has now is way cooler and looks 200 percent better as well gets 18-22 mpg mixed driving with a 5.3 vortec.

IMO though the gray flippers on any vehicile just never set well with me, I don't know why they didn't use body color panels or black like the HD.

The Ridgeline, CRV, and Element are cool butI don't get why they only get 18-23 mpg. Resell value on those is phenomenal which is equally baffling lol.
