how did that happen? alright, you need to be psychic to know what the problem is. haha basically I'll come to a stop, and the car will start to run a little rough, and when I try to accelerate it will hesitate and the rpm's will drop, but then it will start accelerating normally and it doesn't do it again for a while. It will also do the same thing while going up hill, I'll have to switch it down to 2nd.

What are we working on here?

it's a 1988 lx carb. failomatic.

When I start the car for the first time there's never a problem, when the car warms up when I'm accelerating from a stop in D4 if I push the accelerator too much the revs will just jump up and nothing will happen. When I let off the accelerator a little, it will get a little better but it won't accelerate like normal.

Checked fluid level & condition? Ever changed it?

The hesitation sounds like a carb issue to me. I would run a bottle of injector cleaner though it first. As for slipping, it usually means the trans is done. Adjust the TV cable and do a fluid change, but prepare yourself for a rebuild.

I figured out why the car is hesitating, the spring that moves the plate in the carb has gone bad, and no longer hold the plate shut. I adjusted it and the gas peddle is way more responsive. I'll change the transmission fluid, and I'm going to run sea foam through the gas tank and crank case, not too sure if I want to put it into the carb. I'll read up on the TV cable and look at that. if that doesn't work I guess it's time to adjust the timing and idle.

The TV cable isn't what's wrong, or the PCV. It might have just been a case of not letting my car warm up all the way.

I'm definitely looking at doing a weber conversion. If I'm lucky I can get everything I need (fuel pump & pressure regulator included) for about $200.
