I got my car with fog lamps already on it but they weren't hooked up, the wiring is all tucked into my dash and I got it out and untangled it, and there's already a switch put in to turn them off/on.

Edit:
[coming out of this switch there are 3 wires, red, black, and white, the black one leads to a spade connector, and the red leads to a fuse box with another red wire coming out to a spade connector. The white wire leads to a splice, with a black wire coming out to a spade connector, a white wire and a black wire leading to connectors for the fog lamps, and two more wires doing the same thing. ]

My problem is I don't know where the three spade connectors are supposed to connect. I think the black wire coming out of the switch is a ground for the whole thing, and the other black wire coming out of the splice is a ground for the lamps, but then what's the red wires and the fuse box for?

I'll post pictures when I can

Can you post a picture of these wires. your post is confusing me.

I suggest you get rid of the wiring that is in there and start fresh. You have the lights and a switch and there should be a relay somewhere. Your fog lights are only supposed to be available with your low beam headlights.

In my 87 I wired the switch independantly of the low beams so I could switch them on whenever I wanted them. There were times I drove with only the fog lights on, no low beam or high beam. Very foggy conditions when the light scatter from the low beams made forward visibility impossible. The low on the bumper position of the fog lights allowed for some forward visibility. Apparently this is not legal in most if not all juristictions.

Follow the wiring diagram at the above link for your fog lights to function as they should with low beam headlights on. With this wiring configuration you can switch your fog lights on or off whenever your low beams are switched on.

I edited it, should clarify it a little

I would just go get a new wire harness. i think autozone sells one for 15 maybe.

In the last pic those are the grounds for the left and right side fog lights.

Do you have a relay hooked up to any of those wires?

The red wire with (and its called a inline fuse) gets hooked up to the positive of the battery.

ah I get it now, so just take the spade connector coming out of the inline fuse to the battery, and just ground the other two spade connectors? I don't think I have a relay anywhere...unless there's one in the switch.

everything you see in the pictures is all that's hooked up.

You have to put the light ground on the light. you will need a relay to properly operate the fog lights.

Follow this diagram on wiring the fogs.

There should be a relay in the fog light system for your protection. If the switch is of a low amperage rating you are risking an electrical fire if the current for the lights passes directly through the switch. In a properly wired fog light circuit the switch is only supposed to carry the low amperage required to power the relay coil. The higher current to power the lights pass through different contacts within the relay that are capable of the higher amperage draw of the lights themselves.

alright, I think I need to go buy a relay or something...the red wire with the inline fuse goes directly from the inline fuse to the switch so it's definitely wrong, right now I've got the switch with the black ground wire and the white fog lamp wire still attached.

Do I need to put a ground on each of the fog lights? or is the one for both alright?

I just disconnected all the wires, the white wire coming from the switch leads to a split with two connectors on it, taped to that was a black wire with a spade connector on one end, and it splits off to two connectors same as the white one.

ground the fogs and hook it up to the battery and switch. its not that hard to install them.

I hooked it all up just like shyboyCA6 said, and they work great, I have to turn them off manually with the switch everytime, but that's fine. I'll figure out how to hook it up to the fuse box later.
