Search.

You need to be more specific. When you turn the key what happens. Is it a 5sp or an auto have you checked to see if its firing, or if its getting fuel? If you give us some more info on what its doing you have a better chance of getting an answer, but as shyboyca6 said you should search first. There are tons of threads on here for car not starting. But if you tell me a little more I'd be glad to help.

Its 5 sod fuel injected. When I turn the key it wants to turn on but it doesn't and its missing part of the factory intake. When I try to turn it on air pops out the factory intake. And it has half a tank of gas. I did search it said the fuel pump relay, but its not that.

Pull the fuel return line off and see if it pumping when you turn the key on. Its located on the drivers side at the end of the fuel rail under the regulator. Also check the cap and rotor, and while you have the cap off turn the motor to tdc on the compression stroke and make sure the rotor is pointing at #1 cyl. Make sure all the plug wires are on the right spot too. Firing order is 1342 turning clockwise.

Also check for codes. Pull drivers seat forward, turn key to the on position and look for a plastic box from behind the seat. There should be a little plastic flap about 1"x1". Open it up and there will be a red led that flashes. Count the flashes. There will be about a 2 scond pause between codes, but if there's only one code it will just keep repeating it. Let us know what you find

Btw in case you don't know, I forgot to mention earlier to find tdc you need to look uncer the distributor ther is a spot cut out in the trans bellhousing it should have a rubber plug but most of them are missing so if you don't have a plug don't worry about it. Anyways inside you will se a pointer. Line it up with the "T" on the flywheel and that will be tdc for #1 but u gotta make sure its on the compression stroke and not the exhaust. The easiest way to do that is to pull the #1 plug out and stick your finger over the hole. When you feel air trying to push your finger off, you are on the right stroke. However you must be turning the motoer counter clockwise from the crank pulley bolt for this to work if you turn it the wrong way it give you the compression stroke at the wrong time.

See im having the problems with the timing and finding TDC on my 85. my car starts and runs but has no power and is melting plugs and wires. I found the TDC when it blew my finger away, but at the bell housing the pointer isnt pointing at anything. and also the rotor in the distributor isnt pointing at number 1 plug. and from the looks of the distributor it is all the way advanced. i had my torque converter replaced last week so could that be not letting everything line up?

@lowrider, I can't help you, I know nothing about the cvcc engines. If I was you I would find tdc on the crank and then check the cam timing and adjust as nessesary. I'm guessing it jumped time.

@86hblxi, let me know what you find out.

Turn the key to on, slide drivers seat all the way forward and look under the seat from behind, you should se a plastic box with a little tab about 1"x1" open it up( if its even there still) and there will be a red flashing LED. Count how many times it flashes. It flashes pretty fast. There will be a 2 or 3 second pause between codes. If there's only one stored then it will repeat itself over and over.

gfrg88

there will be a pause between them..

pickupman6
03-24-2012, 12:24 PM
Yes as Gfrg88 said, there will be a pause, I thought I said that.
For example if you have 1, 6 and 12 which are o2 sensor #1, ect sensor, and egr it would blink once followed by a 2 second pause, than blink six times followed by a 2 second pause and then blink 12 times followed by a 2 second pause then it would blink once, pause for two seconds blink six times followed by a 2 second pause and so on and so on til you turn the key off. If you were to have only one code, let's say 5 which is for the map sensor, it would blink 5 times pause for two seconds blink 5 times pause for two seconds and just keep repeating and repeating til you turn the key off. Now for the tricky part for people who have never checked codes on these cars, if it only had one code and it was code 1 it would blink pause blink pause ... If you don't know what the pause looks like you'd be sitting there counting all day thinking this is one heck of a code. We had another member with this problem a few years ago. He counted the blinks to like 60 or something before he gave up. Good luck, let us know what you find.

Oh also when I said it blinks pretty fast, I meant it. Its about twice a second. I timed it last time I had a code 12 and it blinked it out in under 7 seconds

The stupid cover won't come off I felt one screw but that's it and it won't come off I was bouta rip it off on how pissed I was Lolz... but after I went to turn it on it turned on right away but when I was giving it gas it felt like something was choked up or felt like it wasn't getting enough gas.then I took it for a spin to see and then when it was running it was jerking and almost turned off while I was driving it

What cover are you trying to take off? There is a flap you flip open on the back of the ecu cover. You don't have to take it apart.

86hblxi
03-24-2012, 06:49 PM
Its the only cover that's under the driver seat

pickupman6
03-24-2012, 07:37 PM
Yeah there is no need to take it off. Here is a pic of the flap you need to open. The led is right behind it. This pic is taken from the back seat with the drivers seat all the way forward.http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m592/pickupman6/3GEEZ/IMG-20120324-00050.jpg?t=1332646277
