I've installed power windows and mirrors , and about to install power antenna and central locking to my 86 DX hatch.
I have everyting original , but don't have the control units.. why do I need them for? I've installed them with electric relays and connected to after ignition positive and everything wirks fine.
thanks

probably to prevent armature shorts when relays and switches get hung, visa versa, and to have a diode circuit in place to prevent reversing of polarity or back feeding voltage to something inappropriatley.

I know it is annoying. Sometimes control units have the relays soldered inside them as well and those will eventually become poor connections after time anyways...

so there is no problem not using them , just using relays ?

Where is the control unit located on a 85 lx? My driver window has a short somewhere along the "up" wire, and believe its in the control unit. Just need to locate so i can find the short or go grab another from the jy.
