Their ATF was around the same price, I find it does make the transmission shift a little smoother though.

And I can sleep at night knowing that the proper fluid is in my Honda. ;)

Right! Had to buy 3 quarts to use 2.5, cost nearly 40 bucks.

Anybody tried castor oil yet?

I'm serious, by the way. I'll probably put some in the yard tractor soon to see how it does in that application.

I bought 3 quarts of full synthetic castrol oil in my.. 10/30 works better than that MTF imo. doesn't whine.

gm syncromesh, a bunch of people on here use it and it works great, you can also get it at the parts store

10/30 engine oil is close to mtf, works like a champ... but still not the best cause it doesnt have some special additive (zinc something) and your diff will eventually blow up :)

$11 a quart; I can get Red Line MTL for that. Trans will run perfect forever on that. I've heard good things about GM synchromesh as well. Once upon a time you could use 10W30 motor oil but formulas have changed since then; not recommended.

I put Valvoline Gear oil in my trans well a friend of mine did and had it in his coupe as well. i think it was 75w-90 -____- is that bad for these cars? im not having any problems with it. actually once i get everything out ill be switching to Honda MTF. dont really care how much it cost as long as its worth every penny.

if you can find oil with the old additives such as brad penn, it will be fine, but the manual fluids have friction modifiers that make the syncros work better, I think the Honda fluid supercedes the old manual about the oil, the stuff wasn't invented when these cars were made

i might have a bad synchro it grinds in 3rd if i try to power shift. but i rarely do that im not to worried as i dont push the car as hard.
