Power Windows Control Unit?

Where is the control unit in the 85's? I keep seeing people saying its under the passenger seat but i went out and pulled out the seat to look under and its only the door locks unit. My driver window will not go up. I checked the switch and motor and both work fine its just i guess my up wire is shorting somewhere or the control unit is messing up. Im really trying to fix this but have no idea where to start looking.

What is the control unit used for? Do i need it in the circuit? I was thinking of just splicing after the 6 wire plug and just running that one wire to the 4 wire plug to just bypass the control unit. Is this possible?

For the third-gens it's in the driver's door, so I assume it would be for the second-gens as well.

Where would it be located in the door? The only thing i see in there is the door lock acuator.

I dunno, we have this little black box that's just bolted there...

Yea i went through my whole door and theres nothing in it. So i have no idea where the control unit would be. Maybe under the dash?
