Hello, I just recently purchased an 87 accord lx...the body sucks and has many dents...however the original mileage is a little less than 58k (and yes I have paperwork)...so I'm gonna stick with it and do my best to fix it up (or more likely pay people to fix it up) hs:- so far i've had a mechanic give it a full tune up...new spark plugs etc...and have had the dist. o ring replaced...and new rear wheel cylinders...seems to drive fine but shifts a bit hard and vibration when stopped and in D...only major thing I don't like is it is an automatic...I'll post pics as soon as I can...

Welcome from Nevada! 58k is really young! Try to do a trans fluid flush and check the motor mount for the vibration problem.

Oh yeah...I wanted to clean the engine today and I'm not too mechanically inclined...what tools do I need and what's an easy way to go about doing it w/out messing anything up...I want to make sure I cover up the right things...so far I know I have to cover up the starter (I think) and battery...

Thanks for all the welcomes again guys...
Pico, I don't have any parts yet...I was thinking of buying a manual parts car...so I could use the body to swap onto my body (which is really dented) and then maybe use that tranny as well for the swap...what do you think?? Also, I used to live right next to you man...in Fairfield, CA...for about 4 years...I'm in Manteca now...I'll post some pics up now, that I took yesterday...

I use Photobucket. That site is a bit more user friendly in my opinion...

Thanks for the info...I have a local guy willing to do it for 350...do you think that's a pretty good deal? Also, should I just go to pick-n-pull for the tranny or is there a better place...thanks...

thats a great deal if they know what they are doing. i had to get rid of my auto to get a 5speed cuz it was going to cost too much money to swap

Cool...yeah I'm using an 88 lx manual as the parts car and mine is an 87...so from what I've read, it's pretty straightforward...how do you like driving the manual compared to the auto?

I love driving Stick but I really enjoy it because it makes you pay attention to the road. make sure you pick up a new clutch. Excedy makes a good one that is about 15% better than a stock one.

LOL! How are you quantifying that Messy?
