Does anyone know how to change the small rubber boot/gotor that is on a 5 speed tranny where the shift lever goes into the tranny?
I have a new rubber boot/gator and a new pin that holds the part where the shift rod attaches.
It is quite a large pin and has a sprung cover over it.
I dont like the idea of knocking the pin out with a hammer (too much strain on the shift arm bushings in the tranny), the pin is F**kin tight.
I am going to try and make a tool to press the pin out but there isnt a lot of space due to the tranny case.
I just wanted to know if anyone has replaced the boot/gator on the tranny and if there is a easy way?
The tranny isnt in the car.
