Hey guys I'm trying to get the dip stick out of my auto trans but it won't budge. Was thinking of cutting a notch in a piece of pipe and putting a pipe wrench on it but don't want to break anything.Any advice would be appreciated.

I used a set of needle nose pliers. They couldn't have put this in a better spot, just like the coolant lines under the intake manifold

Just put some trans fluid on the dip-stick's threads, i never had a problem after that, kinda works like anti-cease

Whenever I break mine loose I have to use a pair of regular pliers. Maybe some teflon tape on the threads would prevent it from seizing in the future. In fact, I am going to do that next time. When my rebuilt unit was installed three years ago the mechanic added a Magnafine inline filter. That thing is big and it ended up right above the "dipstick" handle. What a pain. When I changed my fluid a couple of weeks ago I replaced the big Magnafine filter with this one.

I got the JX-154 from Rock Auto.

I wouldn't put teflon tape on transmission part since it can make it's way in and cause problems.
I would try some heavy linemann's pliers those are narrow enough to go in, wide enough to grip the dipstick tab and heavy enough to enhance your wrist twist with less trauma to the stick and your knuckles :o)

not sure if you noticed but my cap has a hole drilled in it, I use the hole with a screw driver or Allen wrench to help loosen it. Also made my car 0.0002% lighter
