I was wondering what everyone is doing for the upcoming holiday? my sister sent bus tickets so we are going up to Dallas Georgia to see my dad for his 70th birthday, my birthday is only a week later so I have a feeling they are going to be giving me a hard time since I will be 40, ughhh. We are just going to stay with family, eat with family etc, so free vacation.

Our holiday weekend is this weekend up here. In the entertainment industry it kicks off the summer concert and touring season. For me it is a 3 concert sort of weekend along with checking on on the other techs with the company around the city to make sure they aren't flailing too badly.

Off to mix an Elvis tribute act in a cushy casino this evening, then whisky and BBQ day tomorrow (roadie friday)

Nothing too exciting here. My son will be staying with me - he's 11. My daughter hasn't weighed in on what she wants to do, but at 19 she probably wants to hang with her friends. I am on a tequila kick at present. I became very educated on American whiskey over the past coupe of years and I am taking a detour. With over 1,000 brands on the market there is a lot to learn.

i don't have patience to experiment regularly but Sauza Hornitos remains #1 imo with Senor Frogs #2 .
Lostforawhile that would be awesome to do sometime.

Patron silver is still my favorite but I have only tried 20-30 types of tequila. We are camping out in the backyard. I recently took on a family tent trailer rebuild and upgrade from my parents. they bought it near new and has been kept in decent array since. It needs a new canvas but that is easy enough. I need to pull out most of the interior to check the floor. Should be a fun rebuild over the year and have it ready to go for next years camping trips.

I haven't gotten in too deep on the tequila yet and I am staying below $25 per bottle. Gran Centenario is very tasty. the first one I tried was the Rosangel because the pink color stood out. It's a reposado that is aged an additional two months in port barrels after adding hibiscus extract. Their blanco goes into French oak for one month. I am usually a bigger fan of blancos due to liking the peppery bite and agave flavor.

I am also really enjoying El Mayor blanco. The other agave beverage I have already added to my top favorites list is Hacienda de Chihuahua sotol. I like their blanco as well, but the reposado and anejo are no slouches. Sotol is made from a different type of agavacea that is harvested wild from the Chihuahuan desert. For as good as it is, $20 a bottle is cheap.

Try a bottle of El Mayor silver. I paid $20 for the one I bought. It was one of the top picks in the Ultimate Beverage Challenge. Excellent for the money and if you don't like it neat you can use it as a good mixing tequila.

Try the "Pure Margarita." 1.5oz tequila, 1oz fresh lime juice, 1-2 tsp agave nectar.

lol, couldn't resist it sorrry.

That is a good idea using the agave nectar as a sweetener for the lime drink!

That is pretty darned funny! Huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, I said "stool." I got the recipe from a web site called tastetequila.com. There are a number of recipes out there. I just don't care for sweet, artificial tasting drinks. The amount of agave syrup you use is up to you and since there is no orange liqueur in this recipe that would be the only "sugar" in it. If you can buy those little key limes locally they are preferable to regular limes, but either should do the trick.

I prefer no salt on the glass, but that is also personal preference.

If you go to the faire, make sure to see Barely Balanced. At least twice. See their regular show and their fire show. We see them in Gainesville, FL, yearly.

With all the recent news calling into question the "wisdom" of trying to boost HDL cholesterol or PSA testing I don't even know what to think about things like ED drugs. If the medical establishment stops destroying prostate glands due to high PSA numbers there may be less need for ED drugs.

Sorry, still hijacking the thread. Deal with it.

It's all in fun...
So to Summer-ize a-parently were going to raise a few glasses with big pushed up boobie wenches and our kids while bbq'n animals then were going to call up our friends at work and enguage them with drunken conversation so they accomplish nothing only because the dog shits in the house and the wench action is being hard, or not.

Roodoo, I have tried both the blanco and repo Familia Camarena. For the money they are good buys. Over the past couple of weeks I have also had El Espolon blanco, El Charro blanco, and El Mayor blanco. I am a fan of blancos, probably because I am taking a break from whiskey and all things oak. The El Mayor was the earthiest of the bunch. The other two are sub $20 tequilas that are as good as bottles costing $30+.

Think we'll try the El Mayor next. This store we have here on the side of coscos carries only a limited varity of everything, all top shelf or hot sellers and nothing less than 750ml. I will ask if they would get that since im reading a lot of people like that.

I had been reading a number of posts on three web sites about a brand called Agavales. This is cheap stuff. I found it yesterday in my local liquor store. If I had not read about it first I wouldn't have given it a second glance. It is in a 1.75L plastic bottle. It's very easy to miss that it says "100% de Agave" on the label. I am not going to say that it is awesome, but it is every bit on par with El Charro or El Espolon. I kid you not. For the price it's worth the risk. At worst, it would make better mixed drinks than your average mixto tequila and it costs as little as they do. $18.99 for that half-gallon.
