View Full Version : Anybody interested in pre-modded clusters with LEDs?

I used to create a thread similar to this way back then but then I abandoned the idea since I was too busy to look for the clusters in the junkyard and stuff. But now that I have some free time (and could use some extra cash) I'm wondering if theres anybody interested in buying a cluster (or even the climate control) already modded with blue LEDs or any other color provided that I could find the Denso clusters since they don't have the green tint built in.

I'm going to use a bunch of LED strips inside the cluster for a nice and even coverage with no hotspots. Heres a pic of the work done on my car:

Obviously its not a 3gee but still the same concept. No hotspots guaranteed!

What would be done:
- remove the stock bulbs and replace them with LED strips behind the gauge faces
- paint the needles with UV reactive paint
- replace the upper bulbs with UV LEDs
- replace all the warning light bulbs with LEDs for additional $$

How much are you guys willing to spend for the whole mint JDM cluster modded with the LED colors of your choice (km/h speedo, unless you are willing to send me your USDM cluster and pay for the shipping and such which doesn't make any sense)

I'm not sure how much the clusters run here but the materials are pretty cheap but I'm fairly sure that it won't go anymore than $200 for both clusters and the LEDs.

Let me know so I can start digging around the junkyards for the clusters/climate controls/switches too!

Veeeery tempting... Is it possible to get the same backlight effect on the gauges but without all that light shining from (what appears to be) the top of the gauge cluster?

Any pics on what the climate control would look like if you were to mod it?

Yes, except the needles won't be lit up since they rely on the lights from the top of the gauge cluster (N)

Not a clear pic and obviously its a 1g and not a 3g:

Yes, provided that I can find the Denso cluster without the green tint built in.

I think I'll just grab a set and do it just to show you what they would look like (Y)

I really need to get pics of the cars I did haha

I'd be very interested in a Carb auto cluster(Unless I could use an FI one and be one tiny step towards FI conversion), absolutely loved your mod when I first saw it!

I believe I can find a carb auto cluster (Y)

I *might* be able to find one but ludes are pretty hard to come by here :'(

Just curious, how much are you guys willing to pay for a set shipped?

BTW this is the newer version with UV LEDs on

I do really like the way the light is even and uniform. I know you are a ways away. When bitesize was making them they were 75 plus shipping. He would tailor to each need and the price would go up as dictated. You are a ways away and I'm sure shipping would still be pretty high. Id offer $150 for a set complete ready to install, you supply the gauges. If you had a special cluster say the b20a that would bring another higher cost into the equation. I wouldn't mind having another hard to find cluster myself.

For a full, plug & play right away console, I'd be fine with anywhere around ~$150USD shipped, if that was reasonable. I be poor, so that's about the max I could afford \o/

Any idea how much to ship a cluster to Malaysia? If its cheap then I'd say it would be cheaper to supply your own cluster instead.

I'm not sure how much for a set of cluster here locally but I'd say around $60 or less. If shipping yours to me is cheaper than that then that should be win (Y)
