I have a Honda accord '88. It has an A20 engine. Should I boost my car or swap? Of boost how much??

Depends what you really want. Both are honestly unique. But we all know we drool over the boosted cars more the n/a cars...

here's a fully built A20 (http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1094989#post1094989) you can look at

I say go for boost, though that could just be because that's what I'm planning on doing myself. I plan to try to mount the turbo under the intake, between the firewall and the block. I am not willing to give up a/c.

^ You could alway mount the turbo in front of the transmission.

Turbo and a/c isn't that hard.. plenty of set ups with big power and a/c out there.. I had turbo and a/c in my da and my cb7 ;)

It depends really on how much bhp you are going to want out of it, and how much you are willing to spend on building the engine. You can't just throw on a turbo onto the stock motor and crank it up to 30+ psi.

If I remember correctly, you can only boost 2-3 psi without having to remap the ecu. 4-8 psi you can do stock, but with the remapped ecu. I would not suggest going past 8 psi unless you are ok with running the risk of blowing the ringlands.

Do you have the carbed version or efi? EFI is easier to work with in terms of tuning and turbo-ing. Carb is doable, but you will have to search domestic forums dedicated to the "good ole V8's" to find how to do it safely, & I don't remember if the stuff in there can be applied to our Kehin 2 or 3bbl (dunno if Im spelling that right) carbs.

If I remember correctly, you can find a youtube vid from an Oregon 3geez meet where a boosted a20a3 had like 250 lb/ft & 200+hp on the dyno?? I think it was 8psi boost.

If you are aiming on 500-600+ hp, then you will need a swap, but to hit that kind of range, it is big $$

You can see the link in my sig for an older, but well done h22 turbo build. It is in a '94 Accord. You can put an h22 into a 3G, but getting all of the hardware (turbo specifically), in there like Brian did would be hell.
