So i need to sell and or consolidate at least one of my cars. So I've been trying to figure the cars i think are worth keeping and what i should sell. Right now ive got these 4 cars/motors.
1986 Honda Prelude dx /et2
1986 Honda Prelude si /b16a
1994 Honda Civic Del sol /turbo b18c
1996 Honda Civic hatchback / b16b

So here is the game plan and reasoning...

1st, pull the gsr motor and all associated turbo parts out of the Del Sol. The b18c was tuned on a chipped ecu running Neptune. There is also a semi jank s80 trans in said slo

2nd, pull the motor trans, ecu, axles out of the civic Hatchback. This b16b will be going in to the del sol. I have 2 different ecus for this motor, a chipped (monotech) ecu obd1 and a stock ecu from an ek4 ctr.

3rd, b16b into the del sol, get it running, badabing. reliable quick, rare Vtec bodied del sol now to keep.

4th, pull the obd0 b16a and install it in the civic hatchback, and run on the obd2a ecu from the ctr. run it with the S80 trans leaving the current YS1 trans for the later build. Park the lude until I can get step 5 complete.

5th, sell the civic hatch back and use the money to do a basic rebuild on the b18c (valve guides, rings, basics) Sell the huge turbo off the del sol. Then buy a smaller turbo for the motor. Install in the white prelude. Boost. Shot for 250-300whp on small quick spooling turbo. Be happy...

This will leave me with this series of combinations..
1986 Honda Prelude Dx w/ et2 motor
1986 Honda Prelude Si w/ boosted b18c motor with YS1 trans and Neptune ecu.
1994 Del Sol Vtec w/ NA b16b w/ s4c trans and monotech obd1 tuned ecu...

You guys like?

I would say get rid of the B16a and the Civic. You could put the B16b in the Prelude and leave the Del Slo as is. Unless there is some reason to not leave the Del Slo alone?

The del slo needs to be my reliable car. Of course sell the b16a in the civic and be done with it all together. Right now the motor in the slo is pretty smokey but has great compression across the board. Turbo could be leaking but i doubt it since this motor has always smoked. Plus with the b16b the slow would be more valuable. It'll get great gas mpg and is a direct bolt in. Ill also get to use those badass hasport axles in the del slo too. Plus the prelude will be much faster than before... it needs a little meat in its diet. The b16a isnt cutting it. I need more torque!!! Jdm gsr motor fits the bill nicely.

I've got some work to do to get the motor in the slow, which is the game plan to have it in the slow tomorrow.

*Clean the Fuck out the engine bay
*Rewire the injectors with the obd2a pig tails
*remove the injector resistor box in the process
*Check ALL wiring is in fairly decent shape
*Rewire the MAP sensor removing the GM 3bar
*remove all the rediculous turbo stuff (most of which is out already), including 3" down pipe.

There is still a some stuff to remove and swap on the motors,
*obd1 alternator
*move the 3 post mount onto the b16b from the b18c1.
*Swap all the clutch mechanism lines...
*remove the mounts for EK chassis from the B16b...

I'm sure there is more, but this is about all i can remember

The list for items for the b16a to run in the EK is getting longer...

The del sol runs with now cel! Gotta slap an Exhaust on this bitch and it'll be cherry... as far as the pictures of the lude goes, nothing has been done to it yet... the next phase is working the logistics for the obdII b16a in the Civic

hondalude86

So, the slow is running, although i need a new distributor. the one in the slow is kinda fucked up courtesy of my ex... I've got the exhaust on and its pretty damn quiet, a thrush glasspack and a greddy sp2 muffler that is old as fuck... hahaha

But here is the issue that i'm trying to figure out, my car keeps getting stuck in vtec. If i get the car into the revs and into vtec and when i let out of it, it stays in vtec, basically idles like piss and the vacuum is lower... but if i shut the car off, and start it back up its all normal again... weird right? worked perfect in the civic hatch...weird...

hondalude86
07-02-2012, 03:32 PM
not sure, worked well in the other car as well, its probably some weird grounding issue... which alone is weird but i'm not sure if there is a trick on here that someone else knows... other than that, the car is running great and it feels like such a complete car... I'll def need to get some pictures up of this thing though...

its raining pure sex...

as far as ultimate plans for the slo, the list of suspension mods include Funtion 7 lower tie brace, huge sway bar, stainless steel brake lines, Hawk pads of some sort, and a much needed paint and driverside, headlight, fender, bumper fitment correction... But that is more likely going to be next years project at the earliest... Still have some other things to work on... which brings me to the next coolest exciting news...

I friend of mine is buying the hatch as an engineless shell for 1200 bucks... I'm keeping the Head unit(kenwood), wink mirror, and the EM1 gauge cluster out of the car... Its just one step closer to rebuilding the GSR motor and slappin' in into the prelude!!!

that leaves me with the EK4 b16b ecu, big precision turbo, EM1 gauge cluster, possibly my s80 trans, ek b-series alternator, rear b series t bracket, 0bd2a b series distributor, and some other random assorted things to sell to go towards the rebuild of the prelude!!! Maybe if i'm lucky i'll be able to buy an LSD for the car... LSD + 300whp+ everything else thats gone into this car = EPIC STATUS!!!

that is really low. i was going to say. that the honda red paint does not last longer than 10 years. nice update

hondalude86
07-10-2012, 08:17 PM
its totally true messy, seems like all the red cars have a rough life from honda... its just a thing i guess. I do want to paint the del sol and the white prelude, but i won't probably do that until next year... maybe that will be my next years project. I figure a b16b Del Sol and a boosted b18c1 prelude is quiet a bit, not to mention everything else i've done this year already (new suspension, wheels, tires, and trans for the white prelude)... I guess from here, I'll just start updating the Ba-B16 thread or maybe start a new thread, a Ba-B18t thread or something...

Hi, im new to this forum and just starting to learn about my car, I have a 84 hatch with a ek1 and was curious if you knew if your motor swap would work on my year to? anything you can tell me id appreciate, thanks.

hondalude86
07-17-2012, 03:47 AM
That's a second gen accord. I'm not sure about those cars but what i do know is that the second generation Prelude shares more in common with the third generation accord. Keep in mind that these motors are fairly expensive, so even doing the swap its going to set up back about 5k

GoldNugget
07-18-2012, 04:01 PM
Alright thanks, I defiantly didn't think id need up to 5k but im ok with that, just gonna have to save up a lil longer. Generally my goal is to get more power out of it, my little ek1 has 89hp, my goal is at least 200 without a turbo

hondalude86
07-18-2012, 10:02 PM
It really depends on the motor you want to use... But expect that most vtec b series motors are going to sty you back at least 2700 or more. That would only include trans ecu and long block. Everything else you really won't be able to use. Need the innovative mounts, wiring, axles, and sell the hydro trans and buy a cable trans...plus all the other odds and ends. Plus to get too 200 whp. 5 k easy

GoldNugget
