i was scrolling through legend how to and noticed it said nothing about the proportioning valve. but in an old thread i made talking about the swap and tucking lines, somebody told me id need an sei proprotioning valve for the sei disks to work.... true or not? also as far as the hard lines and soft lines that legend says we need what does that include? all lines from the MC or just the rear soft and hard lines

Not true, they will work with a 4030 valve. I ran mine with the 4030 for along time before finding a 4040 valve.

4040 is from an SEi or a newer Civic or Integra. They have 4040 stamped into them by one of the flanges.

I would recommend adding Stainless steel lines, This will give you a stiffer pedal. I put SS on both of my accords and just did it for my Tundra.

Interesting that you should state that a SS line gives a stiffer pedal. I asked my mechanic about that a couple of years ago when I was thinking about replacing my rubber lines. He said that Honda's rubber lines have a stiffer material in them as a liner and that SS lines (Which just have SS braided covers over rubber hose) won't make any difference in pedal feel at all. If anything, your brakes might feel stiffer because you have bled them and have new fluid in the system.

I cannot qualify his statement because I still had my OEM lines and my pedal was just fine. He worked for Honda for thirty years before starting his own Honda shop and I would put his knowledge against anyone's.

Just the flex lines.

Mike your right, yet remember that these cars are 20+ years in age. With the temps in Texas those lines also expanded over time. So if you need to replace a line and not buying Honda OEM brake lines then what are you really getting? An aftermarket sub-standard brake line.

I used Stoptech on the Tundra which is the company thats makes their TRD big brake kits.

I can't remember what SS I used on the Accord but I did feel the difference which is why I also did the second accord back in Nov 2009

The 4030 valve will "work".. However, Honda didn't put the 4040 valve there just for kicks.

What? Clerify your question.

Soft (Rubber) line replacement with Braided stainless steel lines. Hard tubing lines do not need the stainless steel line replacement.

I think he's asking if he needs all the lines from the sei or just the flex hoses.
