Pacific Northwest Meet - Sep 29 - Portland, OR

Hey everybody,

Just wanted to start a new thread for the official Pacific Northwest Meet! The following is going to be our most excellent event schedule. Feel free to meet up at any time during the day. We will do our best to stick to this schedule!

10:00am-11:30am: Photoshoot at Clackamette Park, Oregon City

12:00pm - 1:30pm: Lunch at Burgerville, Canyon Rd, Beaverton

Cost: $5-15

2:00pm - 4:30pm: Racing at SyKart, Tigard

Cost: $15/race + $2 for headsock if you need to use a helmet

5:30pm - 10:00pm: Late Night Drags @ Portland International Raceway
Cost: $27 to race, $9 to watch (I think you may need to pay for a number a well)

Please note: If anybody here is faster than 13.99, you will need a helmet, and make sure your car is safe. No loose batteries, loose wheels, radiator overflow works, things like that.

We will try to stick to this schedule as best as we can, but if you want to double check where we are, please PM me BEFORE the meet. I will give you my phone number so that you can call to find out our location.

Please print off your own maps, and get all the addresses and bring them with you. Program everything into your GPS, whatever you may need to do to get yourself to these places. I can't wait up for people who may get caught at traffic lights between our locations. It's really hard when there is a long line of cars following eachother. Last couple of meets, we lost people between locations, and they didn't know where to go. That's why I'm laying the whole schedule out now.

Need help figuring out where a good place would be to meet up for a photoshoot! Any ideas?

The only thing I can remember from when I lived in Portland was Clackamette Park (http://goo.gl/maps/lcCnO). I don't know the Tigard / Hillsboro area very well. It's a little ways from the lunch spot, but so is the race track... How's that look to you guys?

Just make sure there is a good coin wash for us to go to because I am sure my car like others will be covered in bugs and such after a drive like that.

If you're gonna be photographing, do you know of a good spot we can meet up in the morning for the shoot? It would be awesome if you knew of even just a park or something. :)

I'll repeat what I posted the first time:

PLEASE PRINT OFF YOUR OWN MAPS. It's impossible to keep a caravan of more than about 4-5 cars together when there is traffic, and red lights, and other things that will separate us.

You guys think I should post this on some other forums? Maybe Honda-Tech or PreludePower? Last time I posted on PP.com, a guy with a 2g Lude showed up, which was cool to see. Maybe 1st gen Civic forums? Maybe could get some other old-school Hondas to show up? Or do we just keep it 3geez?

Ah dang! So far the meets have been once per year. But if we get enough interest, we can do another one whenever we want! The next one, we might do in Seattle or something. :)

Almost forgot about this... Wanted to stop by and let you guys know I won't be able to make it. Big changes happening right now which include me moving back to Calgary, and a new job starting in a couple of weeks.

My Accord is already back in Calgary waiting for me, so I am without a car... I was going to be leaving for JCCS when my plans changed and I ended up driving back to Calgary at that time.

First run was an 18.8...

Best was an 18.2. Car has some serious issues in the top end that I never really knew about. Power dies off really bad over 60 and starts to sputter. I think with some better ignition tuning, and some rebuild of the carburetor, I could probably shave a second off of that.

I really enjoyed it though. I think that you can really figure out how well your car is running. With how many runs, and how much time you get to do your runs, it's a really good place to tune your car and wrap it out legally. No worries about cops, or problems with traffic or having to lift off the accelerator. I can't believe they don't have this kind of thing in more places.
