So anywayz, anything good under that budget? thanks guys I need two of them and also a box for those badboys. where can i get em? thanks again. :super:

How are the Mobile Authority Subs and Lightning Audio or Pyramid? I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the deep base on the Alpine from the store i was like yeah baby that is the shit. cause even MTX did not come close to the base that Alpine had. So do i get enough base from those subs? I have no clue how they are cause i dont see them around here in stores.

how much do you want to spend on the amp?
well, you will get what you pay for. this is what i have been saying all my life. It is true in a lot of cases.
i think you should save a little more and get something good.
http://www.millionbuy.com/apnsws1041d.html
http://www.millionbuy.com/apnswe1041.html with 200rms power you should be good.
i like this one http://www.millionbuy.com/pericbm5710.html
i heard this ones they have nice and tight bass http://www.millionbuy.com/vofzx4710.html
you can never go wrong with Rockford Fosgate http://www.millionbuy.com/rocrfz3410.html
i guess it all depends how much you want to spend. and what power lever are you looking. if you want to spend $50 per sub, i am thinking you will get around 200-300W per sub, power level handling.
about the boxes. they should be the same. make sure you know the dimensions to calculate the volume. WxHxD=volume for square box. I would say try to get a box with back sloped.
if you get square box the waves that will travel inside the box will bounce from the back and hit the sub and cancel out. this will decrease sound performance. if you have back or front sloped the sound wave will bounce all around and you should hear nice bass.
anyway, i think you should save more money and get something nice, this way you are gonna know that you some quality shit.

Wow, u know what I am either gonna go with Alpines or Rockford Fosgate though Volfenhag ZX-4710 seems really tempting. I know what i am gonan get now. hehehehe, thanks for the headsup on the box man. u were such a help. Thanks soooo much bro. i am gonna save up a lot for this. Thanks a lot. okay this is the ordeal. The Volfenhag subs are 2-4, 8 ohm operation. so that basically means i can use a 2channel amp that would run with either a 2 ohm, or a 4 ohm, or even a 8 ohm right? Lower the number (2) deeper the base right?http://store2.yimg.com/I/millionbuy_1710_12476780

WHICH ONE IS A BETTER BOX FOR THE SOUND? THE PRICES ARE AROUND THE SAME AREA SO ITS NOT AN ISSUE. THANKS ONCE AGAIN.

shepherd79
10-24-2002, 04:24 AM
Nice subs. i would go with pioneer or infinity. they both can handle 250RMS. which means you can run them on 400-500Rms amp easy.
about the boxes. are you sure you want ported box. everyone recomend sealed. i have sealed and it is nice.
i think you should go with sealed.

shepherd79
10-24-2002, 04:30 AM
you may want to check with your local stereo shop about the boxes.

smufguy
10-24-2002, 10:03 AM
I am gonna get these Pioneer ones and what kinda amp do u recommend if i get two of these Pioneers? Is it better to get just one 2 channel or 2 mono?

Whats the difference bwt Ported and Sealed? Are they different in a Bandpass and an open?

shepherd79
10-24-2002, 01:19 PM
i asked the question about the box types before and this is what i got in responce http://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7118 i hope that explains. i am gonna stick with sealed box. when i got my alpine my local stereo shop used sealed box. I love the sound of it. i think it is bery clear bass.
ok about the amp, those pioneer can hold 250W a piece, which makes 500 for both of them. if i was you i would get an amp that can push at least 400Watt in RMS. which one to get, 2ch or mono, it is all depends how are you gonna wire them. most people bridge their amps to get more power with makes 2channel a mono amp. so it is up to you how are you gonna wire the subs to the amp.
this one is not bad http://www.millionbuy.com/prfcl600m.html
this is what people have to say about profile amp, this one is 4 channel http://www.epinions.com/Profile_CL640_626404 but read the review.
you could go with this one http://www.millionbuy.com/piogmx962.html but in my opinion it is overpriced for it is power.
i just read on internet to stay away from Volfenhag. they made cheaply and can't hold much power. http://www.clubknowledge.com/cgi-local/auction/auction.cgi?g637
this is the link if you want to read it.

ok back to the amps, this one is not bad http://www.millionbuy.com/kenkac729s.html
Profile is good for a beginers but if you want something that can last longer go with something else.
i would guess that your best bet would be to go on ebay and look around.
i will see what i can find on ebay for a nice price
range under $100-150. i got my alpine mono amp for $150, but it is only pushing like 150W at 4ohm load, or 200watt at 2ohm load.
let me look on ebay and see what i can find.

wooohooo... I have those exact pioneers in 12's with a sealed custom fosgate box... I read what you said shepherd about the boxes that have flat backs to them.... damn mine has a flat back.... I wonder if my shit would sound better with it slanted.... its really nice right now and I have a 400w Interfire amp rated 450w... It pushes those pioneers great... I still want a more powerful amp though... If I were you Praveen I would go with Fosgate, memphis, or Alpine... if you go Alpine you should go with a powerful one... well you should go with a powerful one regardless but if you go go with anything thats rated under 450 watts your going to find yourself wanting more power in like 2-3 months... Thats just my opinion though.... 200w per sub doesnt feel like much... it pushes a lot of air having 2 12's thats for damn sure but I would love to double my amps wattage with a 800w 2way Fosgate and push 400 per sub... That Volfenhag looks good... if it really pushes 500w then I would say go for it... it looks like it vents well too.... just remember to bridge it and see how it sounds if you run the subs in parellel....

87AccordsterLx

yeah, i am gonna get Alpines, but def not 12s. I heard how they sounded with 12s and 10s with exact same amp. The 12s did not put out much base like i wanted. I am probably gonna go with The German amp though. :D

Volfenhag amps suck,
this is waht people on caraudioforum have to say about this brand name http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb2/showthread.php?threadid=95088&highlight=volfenhag
anyway, they are on the same lever as Pyramid, legacy, and all other junk.
millionbuy.com has a very limited and bad selection of the amps.
your best bet would be go to the other website.
if you still want to buy everything from this website,
consider this amps http://www.millionbuy.com/piogmx962.html

if you want something dirt cheap go with profile http://www.millionbuy.com/caudio-amp-prf.html
or jensen.
why are you looking at 4 channel amp, are you gonna wire subs into stereo mode? in stereo mode each sub will pound on it is own, and you won't hear nice consistand bass. wire them in mono and you should be ok.
the only reason i would see to wire subs into stereo mode if you have expensive theather system in your car. that would rock.

I have a 12" alpine Type-R sub that was recently bought, but i dont have a box to put it in, Also i bought a 300S Rockford Fostgate Amp, now none of these are installed but i got them both brand new. Amp was about 180$ and the sub was 106$ both shipped. I wouldnt go with Jensen, mainly becuase they have a bad reputition for low watts being pushed and they heat up fast, Now Infinity rules on the other hand, 2 10" infinity subs pound with a nice amp in a ported box, my friend has that set up in his explore. I would read up on anything your going to purchase, also check out Ebay for nice prices on new stuff. I got my sub for 85 dollars (106 shipped) and it retails for 200$ and nothing was wrong with it. Right now i am looking for a ported box for my 12" type-r.... might end up making a decent one for dirt cheap

Red88Hatch
10-29-2002, 12:18 PM
keep in mind that MAX power does not matter on an amp, the RMS watts is what is truely put out at peak performance, Companies test MAX wattage under the most unlikley situations. Mainly the cheap comapnies. Trust me the max watts are blow way out of perportion.

smufguy
10-29-2002, 07:15 PM
I think i am gonna go with a Mono amp and run the subs in parallel or get a two channel amp and bridge it in parallel. What do u think Alex, which is the better way?

shepherd79
10-30-2002, 05:05 AM
Eather way is good. it is just 2 channel amps usually have more power when you bridge them.

smufguy
10-30-2002, 06:56 AM
then i guess i would go with the 2-channel amp.

shepherd79
10-30-2002, 10:02 AM
which subs and amp are you gonna go with?

smufguy
10-30-2002, 06:48 PM
i am defenitely gonna go with two 10" alpines and kenwood (probably) for the amp. what u think?

Red88Hatch
10-30-2002, 07:39 PM
alpines are good, kenwood however makes some crappy amps, so beware.....i wouldnt go by what the watts say on the top of the amp, the real wattage is posted in the booklet usualy

smufguy
10-31-2002, 10:17 AM
i trust kenwood more than anything either its home audio or car audio. I have a kenwood headunit and my friend has a kenwood amp pushing his 2 12" subs. He is happy with it and i am happy with its handling. BUt the amp is just a probability. I might change or i might not on what amp i am gonna get. I am still looking for the amps. I am sure u can never go wrong with Rockford Fosgate, but u know what its expensive so i need cash to get it. HOpefully i would get it soon. But the subs are set. Alpines, they are the best.

Red88Hatch
10-31-2002, 11:31 AM
180 is explencive for a rockford amp?? or any amp for that matter... your not going to get much for an amp that is cheaper

shepherd79
10-31-2002, 06:52 PM
I think Kenwood is great company. i think your set up will sound nice.

smufguy
10-31-2002, 08:29 PM
the price right off the catalogue is like 200 for that amp ur talking about hatch. But i am going with 'what' kinda amp and then do more research about it and look for cheaper price on that amp.

my amp is not gonna be based on just price, its gonna be performance and then price. But that doe snot mean, i am gonna get a 300 buck amp and look for lower prices.

accord_lx_86
11-24-2002, 06:31 PM
i know im a month late on this post, but in case someone reads it...u can get a 350 watt jensen 12" at walmart for like 40 bucks

smufguy
11-24-2002, 09:11 PM
yeah, but the jensen is a POS. I like the sound and the power handling, but I am not into 12" and i am not into just cheap cause i wanna go under 50 bucks. The purpose of this thread is to find out if ppl can dig some really good deals on excellent subs. My mind is set on Alpines, i have heard everything out there, including, MTX, Infinity, Jensen, Pioneer, Kenwood and u name em. i have heard it (everything available in a store i mean). BUt nothing came even close to the Alpines Driven by a 200W, 2 channel Amp Rockford Amp.

UPDATE: I am planning to go with either a Rockford or an Alpine 2 channel bridged. What u think about this guys? what do u think ALex? is it worth it? :D

(I think the Type E's are pretty good... for the price... Alpine overall is pretty good but it's DEFINITELY not the best.)
____________

But I guess there is really no such term as "best" in the car audio world. There are so many different kinds of products for so many different circumstances... it just depends on what you want and expect out of a loudspeaker.

So first of all, you have to determine what kind of set up you want. Everyone seems to talk about bass all the time, as if it's the only desireable frequency level for car audio. And when people do want good high end or middle end frequencies, they don't know how to proceed (and look for the good companies), so they go out buy some second rate speaker from Circuit City. :barf:

You can follow along with this group all you want, but the best forms of audio do not come from some crappy $50 subwoofers (or even some $50 speakers, come to think of it).

So, if you want bass... save your money and buy something good!

For subs:
-JL Audio (8 or 10W0's best bang for the buck),
-Eclipse (expensive and worth it!),
-Eminence (LAB12 is the shiznit, and can possibly be used in a car with a good enclosure),
-Peerless/DST (doesn't look like much, but they sound great),
-Soundstream (MOFO!)

For amps:
-Eclipse (if you don't mind spending in the upwards of 500+ dollars... heh heh heh)
-Soundstream (Rubicon II, definitely),
-Alpine (some good products... get review first, though),
-JL Audio (also expensive and worth it)

It also helps to have a good cd header, anything that Eclipse makes is great, Alpine and Clarion are also really good. Clarion is good and inexpensive too.

It comes down to price in the long run, you get what you pay for as another user stated. And like Red88Hatch stated: "max watts are blow way out of perportion." It's not just that, though. Almost all facts given to consumers are blown out of perportion, sometimes they are lying outright. (There has never been any regulations placed on car audio companies, so they don't need to follow any predetermined rules like most home audio companies do.)

Sorry for the long post :D
