View Full Version : '87 Accord Vacuum Hose Mystery

Just wondering if anyone can help me shed some light on this mystery. A couple of years ago I took pity on a doomed '87 Accord and rescued it from a scrapyard, and have been slowly working on it ever since. Most of the work is done now but one area has me stuck. Some of the vacuum hoses have been disconnected and blocked, including those going to the cruise control actuator (which has been electrically disconnected as well). The hose layout of this vehicle is a nightmare, and I'm going to meed a diagram before I can make any progress. But the vacuum hose diagram is missing, and the layout of the carb and hoses doesn't match the diagrams for ANY engines used during the four model years of production for this car. There's evidence of major front-end repairs (done long ago), and I suspect the engine may have been swapped.
The engine serial number is 20A1-4711961 (should be an A20A1?), and the VIN begins with 2HGCA5634HH. This is a Canadian vehicle so maybe that is a factor too.
The closest diagram I've found is for the carbureted engine in the '88 Accord manual (part # 62se321, page 12-98), but my engine does NOT have connections at locations 15, 19, and 21 on the vacuum valve control box. That's about the best clue I can offer.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Make enough posts to allow you to post pics. That will be the easiest way for the rest of us to help you.

Take your camera to the junkyard and get some good pics of an underhood vacuum diagram for your car. That will be your best bet. It won't be any different from the other 87's there, unless you have some rare import. Finding useful diagrams on the web is nearly impossible. You can try downloading the '89 Service Manual off the wiki, but I think your time will be better spent getting the correct diagram than trying to reverse engineer your setup from the '89 manual.
