So, after finally saving up enough money for some maintenance and a first car, and after lots of looking, I found a 1988 Accord LX for a nice price of $1300! 167k on the A20 and transmission, too, which is not bad for 24 years!

It's been more than a little of a stress on me working 'ir up and getting maintenance done, but, after a couple months, I know I love my car.

While it was in pretty good condition when I bought it, there just seem to be so many little things that need to be done on it, but the P/S has caused me a bunch of annoyance, which I really hope I've gotten fixed at this point >.<

The only issues I've had as of now are finding random niche parts for my vehicle..Doesn't seem like many parts yards have 3G's around here, but I guess I'll need to do more looking around for things like the hot air pipe from my exhaust to intake, and the flex hose for my exhaust..

Also, would guess pictures are important as well.

:welcome: Looks to be a pretty clean whip for $1300! Hope to see some future updates! Any plans after all the mechanical maintenance is done?

I'm not totally sure about anything I want to do to 'ir after I finish my mechanical work, including oil pan and exhaust(since the latter's oddly in much worse condition than the rest of the car)

Actually, was hoping to do a Weber carb conversion; getting some of those vacuum hoses away would be so amazingly nice.

Suspension will most likely come after that, maybe a rear disc conversion!
I can't do too much myself right now, since it's my daily driver for work, but, if I can find another cheap DD, I reeeeally want to do a rebuild, clean up some things and maybe bore it out..perhaps attempt EFI.

Oh, and a paint job >_>

After a few paychecks, planning on oil pan/paint/exhaust

How hard is the exhaust to replace? Was hoping there'd be more I can do myself, heh.

How hard is the exhaust to replace? Working on exhaust by merely raising the car with a jack is not easy, in my opinion. You may not have enough clearance between the ground and the car to use a mechanic's creeper. Therefore, you have to lay on a hard surface to work on exhaust. And, of course, old exhaust bolts often have to be heated to get them off due to rust.

Earlier this summer, I replaced the oil pan gasket on my 88 LX-x. Since I had to drop the whole exhaust system and needed to replace everything from the catalytic converter back, I was thinking I would just buy the new exhaust parts and install it myself after getting the oil pan back on. I could not get two of the three nuts holding the catalytic converter to the resonator section lose due to rust. So, I hauled the whole exhaust system from the header (that connects to the exhaust manifold) to end of the resonator section to a local shop and asked them to get those rusted nuts off. They did it in a few minutes and only charged me $10. Otherwise, I did install the exhaust system, including a new parts from the catalytic converter back. But, again, having to lay on the hard ground and hoist the exhaust system up to connect to hangers was not easy.
