Last february i bought my 88 lxi coupe. I've been on the site since i got the car, but never really posted anything about it, so i've finally decided to document the "project"
When i first got it, the body was pretty much destroyed..i dont have too many pictures, but the passenger quarter panel had a 6 inch crack in it which was not too fun to fix up. but its been an awesome car and im planning to do a lot with it this winter and spring! heres a bunch of pictures over time, let me know what you guys think! still got a lot to come, planning to rebuild the engine this spring, fix up the body and repaint it(not telling anyone the color :)) and actually do it right this time. i'll try to keep updates on the car coming cause im planning to do as much as i can this winter!
Here's what it looked like when i first got it

The terrible black paint job that i really should have taken more time on..

It's been one of those cars where someone suggests doing something and i'm just like, alright lets do it! here is one of the horrible ideas suggested by my friend..

Well dam Ive never seen a cream colored roof before. That interesting. And I love the sleepy eye look. I've been trying to do something like that to my hatch but it never works. You got to let me know how ya did it ey. Well you got a pretty good starting point there. And by the way welcome from Cali

You have to pull the fuses to the headlight retractors and then theres the little knobs on top of the motor that you turn until you like the angle. careful though, the first time i sleepy eyed it some asshole kicked my driver side headlight and now the motor is stripped out

Went to the junkyard today and had some lucky finds! :)
we found 2 Se-i's, both had working cup holders..but only one restorable armrest!

we took an old sheet to make the armrest not look so terrible until i can get it done well

And also, if anyone wants a Oem luggage rack, there is one there that we put in the trunk of a car and can go back and get it if you want it. forgot to ask how much, but everything is pretty cheap there

Priming and sanding...and temporarily reatatching bumpers
Hopefully going to finish priming this weekend and start painting after the 20th! How would i reattatch the bumper without zipties? is there an easy way to normally attatch it? if not i'll just keep the zipties. lol

More and more priming and sanding..then coming home last night my tail and brake lights went out along with my cluster lights. fuse blows right when you put it in..time to start tearing shit apart to find the shitty wire..

well, yesterday i was thinking about how my car is so incredibly slow for some reason. and thought back to when my brake pads were rubbing on my rotors and wondered if it had started doing that again and i didn't blow a head gasket or something like that..and well, come to find out my brake pads are rubbing on my rotors still (kind of happy that its not something worse, but still pissed..) so hopefully tuesday i'll have some time to put new calipers on..has anyone else had this problem?

Finally decided on a color. it's been real slow lately due to crappy weather every time i have time to paint..but the doors forward are done, and i am actually happy with the color choice for once! rims will be dericed after i finish painting the whole car!

car looks alot better then it used to!...as for the bumper there is supposed to be a a little plastic thing on the body and then 2 Philips screws hold it on to that. should be able to find them easily at the junkyard
