Hi all,

My 89 Accord seems to have one of the popup headlight not lining up flush with the rest of trim.

How do I get it to line up?

I've tried putting some weight on it but this doesn't work.

Thanks

On the headlight motor itself is an adjustment knob, try that.

Thanks for the response,

Where abouts is this knob? I just opened the hood and looked but wasn't successful.

You have one on the right and left side. located at the fender wall next to the battery and power steering reservoir. They will have arrow indicators. They are black in color.

Thanks,

I tried turning it and it got to a point where it just starts vibrating when I turn. But it's still not lined up.

If I try and push down on the lid it can clearly move further because I'm able to aline it when I push, but when I let go it just goes back to being uneven.

When I push, it also allows me to turn more before it vibrates, but it doesn't move it past a certain point.

Any help?

The mounts might need adjusting. Turning the knob won't help, because it will default into the old position as soon as it's used again. The knob is there in case the motor fails. It allows manual headlight opening.

How would I go about adjusting the mounts?

You will have to disassemble the headlight housing to inspect the mounting hardware and then adjust from there.

So if I've taken off the headlight lid and pulled out the trim, where do I go from there?

What am I actually looking to adjust?

You are looking for anything out of alignment that is the cause for the misalignment. I cannot tell you exactly what is causing the problem for I am not there to see the problem.

there are three mounting bolts on the headlight motor. loosen them. push the motor forward for more closed, pull it back for more open, re-tighten. Knob is not for adjustment
