Well as said in the title i am looking at a 3rd gen it's a 89 LX sedan 141k pretty decent shape little car, but i does not like cold weather that is my only concern. The other day i had to move it from the back of the shop to perfom work on (It's a car lot's car) and the car would start easy but run pretty dang rough for the first 5-10mins (It was in the low 20's not counting the wind chill here). If i get it, it will be my first carb'd import and i've looked in the sticky's to try and get a bit more familiar with the chassis but ofcourse that will take abit of research/time. If any have any input on the issue and other common issues with this gen feel free to fill me in and please do!

Anyway the name's LJ i'm from the mountains of NC i have been into hondas since 06 off and on, and my current project car awaiting yet another engine build, paint, and suspension is a 92 dx cb7 accord, i also currently own a 94 celica and a few other thing's lol. Anyway's nice to join the forum and hope to get abit of helpful info rounded up before commiting to a 3rd gen.

Welcome from Ga.
I would get a weber conversion, advance the base timing a few deg and install a manual choke. Then I would get a 5.25 carb top adapter which lets you use a much better breather, then cut a hole in the hood and cover it with a scoop since the breather may hit the hood when the engine torques. Promise you will love the way it runs then and much less headache.

Appreciate the welcome.

I have pondered on the weber conversion, but that would not be for performance reasons just for reliability, if i could figure the issue out or get pointed in the right direction i'd sum stay with the stock carb. This car at the most will get a K&N, a decent chambered muffler, and some wheels as i am getting it only for a DD. I have my 11.7.1CR build going on for my cb as it is my project/toy.

Again thanks for the info and welcome.

Weber kits were put on many Asian built cars from the 80's, they used to be in stock at n most parts housEs. So it is a repacement carb for non smog reg districts. The Asian carbs were headaches for average techs and it took a lot of time to work on problem carbs so it was cheaper for customers to replace with the holley weber kits.
You might try bleeding the coolant of air, check vac lines to thermovalve from vac advance, generaly clean and lube carb n choke, check for vac leaks or pinched vac hoses.

It's an auto which doesn't really faze me one bit. If i do decide to get this one i'll be sure to get pictures of it asap, work gets in the way of that and my project. I'm about 95% sure i'll get this lx as it's in town and i've worked on it and it's pretty tight.

Looks pretty good. I can't tell from the pics, do all the tires have white lettering or just the rears?

Rears, not a big deal good tread all around. I will eventually run my gti snow flakes on it. I have 16 SVN's for the CB with 235/50 bfg-g forces, but a bit over kill for this car lol.

Edit post just keep's scrolling....

But the only real flaws are it has a VC leak, top of the bumper needs resprayed and the moldings aswell. All and all a nice car and a tight engine, i will most likely get it i told them wensday and it's still at the shop where i parked it after i finished it up friday.

Hopefully i get it ha bound and determined. This ones bumpers have been sprayed with single stage, idk if you fellas can see it but in the engine shot you can see it peeling. Shouldn't be to big of a pain to match and i'll just trim black the moldings.

We shall see tomorrow i hope all goes good.
