if there was any doubt that I'm an idiot, I laid it to rest 1 hour ago. decided to do a timing check and needed to nudge the distributor alitle to bring it up to mark. distributor was hard to move when grasped by the cap so to gain leverage I slightly pulled up on the vacuum advance housing, SNAP!, wrong idea.
I did not realize how cheap and poorly engineered that vacuum housing to distributor housing connection is, until this morning. I've got it chicken wired together now, I needed to get a new distributor anyway. If you did not know before, be careful around this area.

yeah i always turn the distributer by hitting it with the 10 mm wrench i use it on the slider up or down ! don't ever grap it by anything plastic !

its not bad engineerings. its the age my man. 14 years of heat and oil and dust and yeah, a few curses. they tend to give up. :)

go to a junkyard it will be much cheaper. My JDM A20A came with that broken off so i just swithced it from my USDM distibutor. I think you can buy the part new seperately as well....

Junkyard, unless you wanna pay $100 for one at the dealership.

That sux. Sounds like something I might do.

It's about $45 at hondaautomotiveparts.com and about $60 at your local dealer.

been there done that. you may want to look for a distributor with metal vacuum box. that is what my 86 came with.
I don't like distributor with plastic vacuum box.

3-gs run so good during there early life after mucho miles and no need to service this part it becomes a fixed object. I soaked mine with penerateing fliud and struck it back and forth after the two nuts where removed with a hammer!

A friend of mine and I just put a tec advance diaphragm from an LX onto an LX-i... there was some minor modification to do but it seemed the carb diaphragm pulled a little more then the EFI's.
