Weird idle

Can anyone tell me what could be causing a jumping idle without a miss? It does miss if I half the throttle less than 40% open as well when in gear driving, but doesn't miss when the throttle is closed in gear or in neutral. It's thrown me for a loop...if your familiar with mmg/in on a vacuum gauge, it stays at 24mmg/in when in gear slowing down with the throttle closed. With it open, 15-22mmg/in or more driving, it has a sporatic miss. Anything less than 15mmg/in(throttle opened more), it doesn't miss. Any ideas/suggestions?

i think you need to redefine "idle"
idle means engine running no accelerator input (0% throttle)
idle your engine in a dark location at night and look for sparks by the distributor cap and wires, sounds like an ignition issue to me

Are you saying the tach is bouncing around, but everything feels normal? If so that's a symptom of a bad igniter.

On second thought how did you delete EGR? EGR doesn't function at idle or wot, so your description of missing at part throttle could be an EGR issue.
