Whenever my accord shifts gears (automatic transmission) it "bucks." It does this in every gear and it's really noticeable when I go to pass people on the highway and it "kicks down."

Does anyone know if this is a sign that my tranny won't last more than a couple years? or shorter?

I speculate it got that way because I think the previous owner never waited for it to warm-up and I think he just put it in gear ~2000 RPMs everytime.

The good news is that if it does go out in the next year or two, my brother has a 85 prelude with a perfect automatic transmission that I could use.

Thanks

My old accord 89 has the same problem that you.
I thinks its a sign of wear but also a sign that maybe the
atf is not in very good condition. Check your fluids level and
the color of your atf.
The problem you experiment is only in 4gear???
Your tranny is doing slipping???

For the life you tranny while live its very difficult to say, my tranny does the same for about 4 years and i got 321 000 miles on it.
Your tranny can dies tomorow or live forever...

ps:when i changed my atf its has help a lot!!!!! use honda products.

Sorry what do you mean by bucks the tranny dont want to
kick down?? Because its normale that the tranny downshift when
you press the gas pedal to the floor.

What I mean by "bucking" is that when it shifts (ANY gear, mind you) it isn't smooth. The whole car lurches forward a little bit. For example: in my parent's '99 Grand Voyager Minivan, if you press the pedal down to accelerate, the speedometer slowly climbs but the tach goes up and then drops when it switches gears. In the Minivan you can't tell when it switches gears. In the Accord you can tell. There is a slight "buck." (Think bucking bronco.)

Try dumping the old fluid and putting in Honda ATF. That should help a bit if not alot. Mine was jerky until I filled it with Honda fluid.

Just take it into a specialist auto tranny centre, they'll change the fluid, adjust the TV cable and do other things.

There's about 4-5 around here, I just need to get some money to take it in.
