hey guys wanted to ask a question just a few days ago my power steering started to over flow i thought there was air in the reservoir tank so i did the process to remove the air and it work ok for half the day then the steering wheel would be really hard to turn while the car isnt in motion but while the car is in motion its easy to turn. my power steering level is almost at max i dont understand why its doing this to me what do you guys think it is . maybe my pump, or my gears, or alternator. let me know please thank :)

Mine did the samething one morning about a month ago. I never figured it out. I usually run at the max level but reduced it to the min level.

I too also had the kickback at idle not moving in August. Once i started moving it was gone at the next stop light.

Besides changing out the fluid i might also change the belt out i dont think i ever have.

My catchiness went away after I changed out the PS fluid a few times. I suspect that the old oil gets crud floating in it that jams up the passages in the rack. Not sure why the reservoir is overflowing, but changing the oil probably won't hurt it. I finally installed an auxiliary filter and it's been a real help: http://www.3geez.com/forum/how/81406-install-inline-ps-filter.html

Basic what snooz said. Clogged passage or control valve is stuck causing a spike in pressure .

I think a fluid change would be a good place to start. If you want to do the filter, it was somewhere around $15. Definitely change the fluid though.

You really have three choices. Ignore it until something expensive breaks. Replace something expensive now. Or change the oil. There's no guarantees that any of it will work. That's why you start with the cheap and easy stuff first and keep moving toward the expensive stuff until it's fixed. Sorry I can't make it any more certain than that.
