i know jack about engines, just so you know.
does the delsol manual for making a cold air intake work at all for a carb?? is there no difference, or do i need to put holes in different places, or is it impossible. and please dont tell me to flip my lid, because it won't look half as cool.

U are right that flipping the lid doesn't look cool but making the intake is a bit of a trial and error... I'll post a pic for you of the best carb intake made by a friend for his car.

I made one before but then I got the weber so no need to have it now.

I think the pipe is 2.5"

or 2" I'm not sure...

If you make one you should go with 3" pipe

and the adapter diameter is 3.5"

the hieght of the adapter should be 2" and you'll need to squish the 3" pipe to make it the same height of the adapter (only on the end that is connected to the adapter... the rest of the pipe you leave round)... then weld in some metal to fill the gaps between the 3" pipe and the adapter.. and plasma cut a hole in the adapter to match the hole of the pipe you just welded on.. then drill a hole for the two bolts that hold it to the carb.

to hook up the CAI is all i have to do is make a hole into the air filter chamber? is that it, and run the CAI pipe off somewhere else? or is there much more

Do you see the round metal part above the word "FILTER"
in the pic I posted.

well you have to make that part... it's like a cup turned upside down. with a hole cut in the side so air can come in from the intake pipe...

why so short? does it not need to run down near the bumper so no rain or anything gets in it?

have any pics of your friends engine with it?

YOu can make it longer, just buy more pipe and rubber connectors

one last question. what did he/you make the cup out of?

it's aluminum... basically you find an aluminum pipe that is 3.5" in diameter then you make a cover out of and aluminum sheet... weld the 2 parts together to make the cup.

another question... i just realized that theres a stock intake of some sort, going down where the CAI ppl put theres. could i just make a pipe off of that, with a k/n filter on the end?

or should i just take it off? the lid is now temporarliy flipped

thanks so much for the help!

no I wouldn't stick the filter on the end of the stock air box... but you could keep the plastic tube to use later... flipping the lid is the best thing till you can make the real intake.

well if you flip the lid then you might as well reomve the plastic hose
