im extremely paranoid about my engines clenliness...i went through 7 cans of de-greaser in 1 month. Im trying to save money for dual webers, but im afraid of what could happen when i strap those things on . whats the BEST and most thorough way to clean an tune up my engine inside AND out. and id like to replace all the seals and belts and stuff. any information would be greatly appreciated.
thanx

you'll have to remove the engine thats the #1 way... I'm thinking of picking up a spare bottom end from a junk yard... or buy one over the net... but replacing belts and hoses, gaskets and o-rings... it's just 100 % easier when the engine is out and in the open.

oh and if you can get a custom manifold and you don't have emissions testing then go for the dual carbs.

Hey A20A1, I have a question about this carb swap I might do. My english profesor has a 88 prelude with dual carbs. Could I use that manifold on my and get Two Weber carbs? Or could I for the time being just swap in the manifold and 2 stock carbs for now? He's willing to just give them to me if I give him mine. I told him about 3GEEZ and he thinks it's sweet. Thanks in advance A20A1

he has the A18 (1.8liter) engine... not sure if it's the same as the A20 (2.0liter)...

the engine looks the same, though I've never tired to remove the manifold for the prelude duals. I'm not sure if you would gain from dual stock carbs

I mainly was just wondering if the manifold could withstand 2 webers? I wasn't going to keep the stock carbs in for good.

I'm pretty sure the runners are strong... it still won't make the 40 dcoes a bolt on mod... but it may make it easier... I wanted to use the prelude manifold to do a single dcoe 45 conversion.

if your worried about the weight breaking the manifold just add braces... or stock manifold has 2.

The thing is, I have no idea on how to go about hooking the stuff up. Do you think I could run a single dcoe 45 conversion with my manifold or would I need the prelude one? I don't know what carb or carbs I will go with yet. I don't know if I want 1 or 2 yet either. Would it be easier to just do a single carb? Or doesn't it matter?

A18 is the same as A20. A20 is just a stroked version of A18.
The other thing is that i think dual intake on prelude has two single carbs. i am not sure but atleast that what it looks like.
you may be able to use some part of the intake to make your own custom on.
the other thing, is that prelude intake is too long and if you want to putt sidedrafters on it, most likekly it will hit fire wall for sure.

exactly. The carb on the lude is towards the firewall, unlike the carb on an accord, which is like straight up. Ur webber cant hanldle that lil space bwt the manifold and the firewwall. BUt i guess carotman posted (on the last AF forum) of a twin webber B16 or a B18. i still go the pics on my computer, can send it to you if i find it.

I'll correct things here:

the 88 prelude has a B20A3 engine SOHC, dual carb. The manifold won't fit on the A20A

The A18 engine is dual carbed too. The intake ports are round on the A18 while they are oval on the A20A. This means that will not work on the A20 either.

The only one that MIGHT fit is the manifold from the JDM B18A 86-89 VIGOR Engine that was available on the non EFI models.

I don't know anything about this engine except that it's alot similar to the JDM B20A engine from the Japanese 86-89 Accord/Vigor.

If both engines share the same ports configuration, the B18A manifold would fit on the A20A.
