View Full Version : Leaky cam seal?

I've got a slow oil leak that leaves a trail starting right under my distributor and crank angle sensor. It's really easy to see without the tranny in. I was thinking it was my distributor side cam shaft oil seal (the o-ring). Does this sound right? For those that have replaced their's, how bad a job is this?

Thanks

Mark distributor at head, unbolt, pull, replace. Should be easy.

I would set timing to be sure, if possible.

The old seal will probably be dry rotted on there, so you'll have to cut it off. Afterwards, pop the new on in its place and reinstall the distributor. Not a problem!

Had the same issue on mine :)

Thanks guys. After I take a little time off from the clutch/rear main seal job I'm just finishing I'll go ahead and take care of this. It sounds like it shouldn't be too bad.
