It sounds like your not getting enough oil to your valves & possible not enough oil pressure to the head with the ticking. There is a orifice between the block & head that could be restricted and/or you have low oil pressures from the oil pump. Generally, the oil light pressure switch will light up the light on the dash with low oil pressure, but not with a restriction to the cylinder head orifice. Little hard to say what is going on, you need a oil pressure gauge hooked up to the engine & test the pressure of oil at the sending unit.

Doesn't sound very serious, but I would install an oil pressure gauge anyway. The idiot light in these cars will light at about the same time that your main bearings burn up. I burned up my first engine without ever seeing the light. Don't rely on it.

You should also adjust your valves if you haven't.
