I had an old thread on here when I first started getting in to cycling.. I guess it got deleted. Anyways, over the past few years I've gotten way into riding bikes. I sold my 3gee last year and have been living "car free" ever since. Living in a big city makes it pretty easy to live without a car.

One cool thing about bikes is they are way cheaper to own/maintain and I can work on them inside my apartment. Used bikes also maintain their value well and can often be resold for profit, as long as you buy wisely and know how to do your own maintenance. Just like when I had a 3gee, I like to tweak and mod my bikes to suit my personal preferences.. no bike I own is stock. I'm also a big fan of the era that the 3gee hails from.. just like how they made cars to last back then, they made bikes to last.

Anyways, here's my collection

1989 Centurion Ironman Master (road bike)

1988 Univega Alpina Pro (city bomber.. handles mixed terrain like rough roads, dirt, grass, etc like it ain't no thang)

OMG, my friend had a Centurion from I think 1988. It looked almost exactly like that but with slightly different colors. That thing was bad ass back in the day! I was WAY into mountain bikes in the late '80s since I was only in junior high and didn't have a car. I had a Schwinn Mirada that I hopped up in nearly every possible way. Even did the classic '80s two tone blue to white fade paint job! I don't have any pictures of it although my dad might. I'll see if he can find some.

Right now I'm still on the MTB I bought back when I still worked at the shop in the '90s. It's a '97 Schwinn Moab Aluminum with some upgrades. I'll post some pictures later. I also have a Gunnar (made by Waterford Cycles) road bike that I pretty much never ride. Mostly just bought it because I wouldn't be working at the shop much longer.

i've got a couple fixed gears from walmart that me and my wife have been riding. it's good fun but we live in a bad area so not a lot of street riding just the canal roads. i'll take some pictures after i get one of them painted.

I really like the Dakar. My buddy and I restore bikes from time to time, so I'll have to show some of our work. My beater is a 2005 or so Diamonback Outlook, my roadie is a '73 Schwinn Super Sport that really needs new wheels before I feel safe riding it. Converting the SS to a single speed with a flip flop hub. I have a Peugeot something or other from the 80's that I have been thinking about building.

Where do you keep all those bikes??? LOL. I see you took my advice and got a MTB for commuting. I like how the paint on your one bike matches the graffiti. That's a good pic.

Here is my '94 Cannondale F700 in Yosemite.

In the shed.

It's got all the cool parts. I bought it back when MTBing was huge but before everyone decided that derailleurs were worth $300. I don't ride it much anymore. :(

hah yeah i got way into MTBs.. i don't really commute (work from home) but mtbs are much better suited for city riding. And yeah I was stoked when I found the grafitti that matched the bike :D

as for where i keep em.. I used to have them all over my apartment  but now most are in one place

Here's the MTB. It has the stock wheels on it right now with near slicks for street and gravel trail riding. The knobbies and good wheels are reserved for REAL trails.

And the road bike. The pedals are off because a friend needed to borrow them and I never put them back on. Yeah, it doesn't get ridden much.
