Is it easy to replace the power antenna on an 88 Accord LX someone was telling me it's a pain.

it's a pain to get to the motor
But if it's just the antenna, then I think it might be quite easy.

i was how to change my antenna as well. it's broken off so that i only get 2 stations and i don't like either of them. i tried to pull the antenna housing out but had no luck.

The problem with the antenna could be that the screws on the outside are stuck. I used penetrating oil and managed to get them loose after having left it for couple of days.

I can hear the motor working when I press the antenna button its just that the antenna is broken off. If I replace the antenna will it retract and what is that white plastic piece that must have been inside the antenna?

the white plastic is the spider gear that makes the antenna go up and down. to get that back in the motor you have to put the gear in the motor till u can't push anymore then try to put the ant. down and get the gear to grab.

the best way to do this is to unbolt the two bolts in the roof and pull out the antenna fixture, then put the white cord back in the motor, then button everything back up.
