I went to my local performance shop to find out the price of a Civic intake pipe, $170 I thought f*#k that I am going to follow the how to and make my own. Now that I saved all that money I can spent more money on a good air filter, I need your help and personal input are foam filters or cotton filters better??

i have only seen foam filters for motorcyles or small things like breathers. i would get a good cotton filter like a K&N or any reputable brand. just keep it clean and it will last you forever.

yep, go with a renouned name brand. its well worth the money. just shop around to get a deal, not spend 50 bucks on a filter alone ;)

the problem with the foam is that it doesn't filter as consistantly, and under high vacuum the pores close up. I had an Eddlebrock Pro-Flo and you could see the foam compress as the engine's rpms got higher.

the layered design and wire mesh on the K&N gives it strength and the oiled Cotton Gauze provides better flow for the amount of filtration.
