New from NC have an 88 accord lx with 412687 Miles!!!!

I just found this forum. I bought my 1988 Honda Accord LX new and have 412,687 miles on the original engine. It has never been opened or rebuilt. I drive it 110 miles per day. I have another 1988 engine with 93,000 miles on it. I thought my son and I would like to boost up the motor if possible as a project before the old motor finally goes. Not sure what could be done, looking for ideas.

Welcome from California! Post pics of the cars when you have a chance. We have some real milers here, but you might have the highest. Especially on an original engine. Sweet!

Welcome from Ohio. Do you have two cars or one car and an extra engine (with 93K miles)? How's that original engine doing? Does it consume much oil?

I only have one car. Picked the extra motor up a few years back with 93,000 for $100 and I got to see it run before he pulled it. The original engine rolled over 413,000 miles this weekend. right now it uses about a 1/4 of a quart per tank and that from the blow back in the air cleaner. The taill pipe is still gray and 28-30 mpg. I drive it 110 miles per day at 70mph.

My car just rolled past 413,000 this weekend. It uses about 1/4 of a quart of oil per tank of gas. Most of it is blow back that I clean out of the air cleaner. I drive it 110 miles per day at 70 mpg and get 28-30 mpg.
