my girlfriends dad has a older civic, OLDER, like 85or earlier, reallllly old looking with a weber carb on it that he put on a couple years back, the car has a blown head so hes willin to sell it, but i dunno if itll work on our cars, all i know is the civic is a 1.5, is there some kind anumber i should look for on it to find out what kind it is? BTW, the civics hood opens backwards?!?

Its problaby a gen2 then. The carb is most likely a DGV. It should have a number stamped on the side. If it is then all you'll need is the right adapter plate and most likely some new jets.

but otherwise itll fit? if so then some1 make an offer? the number stamped on the sie was like 10046???? sumthyn like that

Check the model number out on Weber's website to see which one you have compared to the 32/36 DGV the one that "best suits" for our car's engine size.

look for DGV stamped on the base of the carb... anyways any DGV should work, just get the adapter plate new jets and throttle cable bracket.... oh and it doesn't matter if it's electric choke or water choke.. if it's manual choke then all you will need is a choke cable from and auto parts store.

Which of the 2 chokes are better? (electric choke or water choke)

Water is supposed to be more reliable. You already have the connections for an electric since you stock carb uses one. I prefer manual because I know better when its time to turn the choke off then the silly mechanism usually does.

dammit i wish i knew what to do about this crab, i know nothing about carbs, and how much will that extra stuff cost? and how much of a power increase we talkin bout?

More then likely you can use the civics linkages so you'll just need the adapter plate which is around $50 and some new jets $5 a piece give or take. Don't know how much of an increase it actually is, but you'll definitely notice it.
