I bought this car a year ago as a beater / commuter. It has held up so well that now, I rather like it. Since it has served me so well as of yet I have decided to start making it nice. It is a 1986 Honda Accord hatch LXI, A20A3 engine with fuel injection. Car is bone stock except the exhaust which is a 2.25" pipe from header back. It was a stright pipe when I bought, but I have since put an overly restricted exhaust on it which I have wanted to change since installing. The car was VERY rough on the outside when I got it and the interior was ... well unique. On to the pics:
Freshly chewed bumper:

Sweet trim masking- looks amazing PO:

Light is kinda damaged:

By the looks of this hood, and cracked window, Id guess that this car has killed a man!

Here is the unique interior I talked about:

We started removing that the first day.

I then started to address some of its issues. I fixed the electric windows at first with a stick in the door, then I got the electronics working. windshield wipers didn't work (worked fine without as long as I polished with rain-ex once a week) so i fixed them. I scored some good looking grey door cards from the parts yard. Went from this with stick holding window to...

Replaced the driver door, bumper, and took off wheel covers.

I also got a new hood and cover for my damaged light. I still need to take it apart and straighten the light frame, or I may just replace. That black hood was a million degrees sitting in the sun. Hauling out of the parts yard was a chore even with gloves.

And as you can probably tell, I have put some LS mesh 14s on the front. I have the set, but my back steelie 13's have good tread, and until i can get a new brake drum I cant get one of the rear wheels off.

Car is starting to come around. There are some rust issues in the rear arches that I need to take care of.

The dash needs some TLC too. Once the small zip ties failed, my dash nearly exploded onto my lap.

I have since picked up a brand new looking blue dash to put in. I am waiting for the time to put it in.
Last week I was driving it to work when my timing belt went out. Was a simple job to fix; new timing belt and all is well.

Yea... the bandanas are ones that are common around here for the asian gangs. With the interior as it was, and the damage on the front looking like it killed a man, I didn't even ask.
Looks as if a dog was chasing the car and gave the bumper a nibble. I swear it wasn't me!

Glad to hear the car has treated you well enough that you want to restore it. Do you have any modifications in mind or just a straight restoration? I know what you mean about stuff heating up in the yards around here. That summer sun is a killer. I can barely hold onto metal parts, even with nitrile gloves on.

As for mods. I want to put a nice looking spoiler on the back. im thinking of one of the big aluminum ones. I want to paint the car a bright electric blue and put something on the sides like stripes or something with some sort of body kit. I want to get some 16 or 17" chrome wheels with a low profile tire. and of course lowering it as low as I can get it not matter the cost. I don't want to spend that much money on it, so my engine will probably be stock.

i am kidding about that last post. I want to make the car mostly stock. I'd like to paint it the same color, and put some new struts and springs on the corners. Other than that, I will have a stock lxi hatch.

Speaking of parts yards, I picked up some seat belt buckles. a front fender and light assembly. Now my car has 4 different colors on its exterior not including the pink paint pen markings.

Look at that fender! It is now the best looking part of my car!

Heck, you already have the Asian gang-banger interior. I just thought you were going to roll with it!

Can't wait to see your progress.

heh, ya. The interior is all changed out for the stock look now. Now I have to deal with this:

Parts are ordered from rock auto. Once I get paid I may spend about $500 to replace bushings, CV axles, struts and springs all around.

Replaced top link and put a new rim on. Looks good, but I cant test drive since my wife brought all the Honda keys to work with her today. Looks pretty good with matching rims. Tomorrow I may get my wheel stud fixed and new tires for the back.

My driver side axle shaft started sounding like a pump action shotgun, so I stopped driving the car and ordered parts. I am doing all balljoints and major suspension bushings, front struts, and axle shafts.

Today I finished up the rear suspension in my garage! soo nice to have climate control. If you look close, you can see a MINT complete dash in the back :omg:

Some parts for the front. Waiting for more.

I also grinded off the spun lug stud and replaced it. Now I have 14" LS Mesh on all corners with directional 185-60R14's.
