Hi, I am strangeduck. I own an 87 Accord LXI 3 door with 203k miles on the odometer.

This has been about a 9 or 10 month project. This will be the third build so far in this car since i have owned it. The first two were small simple builds compared to this.

Of course, a lot of this stuff i am learning as i go, like fiberglassing, and such. You are right, there is a ridciculous amount of money tied up in it so far, with tools equipment, supplies and time. Far more than the car will ever be worth. But I have been doing small installs for a long time and decided I wanted to so something a bit bigger for once.

I do want to say that this is a small build compared to the builds that inspired it, so i have no delusions of grandeur, but it is enough for me for now.

There are a few suspension upgrades in the future, i am getting some springs from coils spring specialists that are factory fit and spring rate but give me an extra 500lbs load capacity.

I hope i can find some good resources here to help me out with things i need to be looking for on this generation. I have replace upper control arms front and rear, wheel bearings and lower ball joints in the front.

Anyway, thanks again for looking guys, i appreciate the feedback!

It's been a long time since we've seen an epic stereo build on the board. Most people here are good with a pair of subs with about 200 watts driving them.

How well does that router work? Any issues with it bogging? That's the router I've been looking at, since it's inexpensive and comes with both fixed and plunge bases. Jasper circle jig? I'm debating between one of those and a Router Buddy.

I havent had any issues with the router, The plunge base isn't real smooth but it works and of course working with 3/4" stuff you have to make multiple passes unless you want a burned up bit. The jasper jig works great but it's made of poly-carbonate (lexan) so don't drop the router with it attached or it will break.

Just messing around and testing the subs. Here is a little video. Right now I am dropping to around 12.2v from 14.4 with the car running with 2 G34 AGM batteries. I will be installing a mechman 240amp alternator soon, so hopefully i can keep the battery bank small. Maybe 3 or 4 at the most.

I think this track is around 35-40hz, i haven't checked in audacity, but it's pretty low.

edit: there is a bit of rattling, i'm working on that, lol.

I havent updated for a minute. Got some stuff going on, you know, life.

Anyway. Got the doors done. They aren't perfect but i am satisfied. The kickpods are coming out. I just can't make them fit with the door pods. So i wil have to look into a different setup on those. I have the mids playing now but still need to finish the a pillars and get the tweeters in. Got a few vids.

By the way, i have these old pods. The first i ever did. They fit 5 1/4" speakers and a 1" tweeter i believe. I would be willing to part with them if someone needs them. Just pay shipping and i can send them your way. They arent the most beautiful things ever but with a bit of elbow grease they could be touched up and made to look nice.

Yeah, I'm building a small SQL setup in my car, but I gotta know how loud it is. It will never score well because I'll be using a processor with time delayed rear fill. That sort of setup sounds nothing like a huge front stage with subs in the rear like they are used to judging.

Do you have and sketches for tour dash, or do you integrate the design and building phase there? I am curious as to what's in store.

I redid on my 1/0 connections today. Since the Knu 1/0 is super tight in 1/0 lugs i don't trust them being soldered. So i bought a hydaulic crimper and redid them

Wow, that looks money! I bought a big ass crimper that you hammer down on for big lugs like that. It works great, the crimps are solid, but they don't look as good as that. Mind if I ask for a link to what you bought?

I bought basically the same crimper but from amazon. Be careful though as mine came with metric dies and i had to improvise on the 4ga terminals for my mids amps. It still works, but isnt quite as pretty.

Just though i would bump this and say there isnt much going on with the build right now. All my monies are going to important stuff right now. I did get the mechman alt installed but i need to make a better bracket for it since it isnt a direct fit alt. I can pull my bracket off and modify it but i would rather find an extra to work on so i dont have to have my car down for a week while i work on mine.

So if anyone has an extra lower alt bracket for a 2.0 I would consider buying it.

I know, But i cant seem to find a junkyard around here with a 3rd gen. Most the local places don't keep stuff that old around anymore since there is no demand for the parts. Most of them have gone to the scrap yard sadly.

Just have to keep going back until you find what you need. Junkyards are tricky like that. I don't think you're going to find the piece any other way. Even with a big parts availability, that would be a difficult piece.

I guess I could post up a picture of the car itself, Its a bit dirty and has a ding by the rear taillight where a deer ran into it. Other than that dent it is straight. It could have been a lot worse though, he just clipped the rear fender and it can be fixed pretty easy.

Also, can anyone tell me what car these wheels came from, i can't find any pictures of 3rd gen accord with these wheels on them, they are 14" and have a honda logo in the center.
