I really wouldn't do anything like this on my hatch...but I'm just throwing some ideas out there for the rest of you 3geezers.

Sorry...I don't know why the links don't work...but copy and paste them on WP or something.

Hmm... I hope the height of the stock lense of a hatch is large enought to accomodate the lip of the light housing... the pics of the civic have some overlap.

Those lights on the CRX look like the generic lights you can buy in the electrial section of Pep Boys. If you could get a body shop to make you some fiberglass panels that fir the tailight openings you could make these yourself.

I am inprocess of making some like that for the Civic using a metal frame and recessing the lights about 1/2" at the top and making them perpendicular so the bottom will be recessed a little more. I have one blank panel made and the 4" pipe to make the recesses out of but I havent finished one yet. I will post a pic when I have it done.

AND. i have plans to make lights like that for my hatch, hopefully with your help man... :)

the lights look like a tight fit there... i want 3 though... maybe... that might be too busy, we "could" just make a dual color lamp assemby, and use clear lenses...

also, what are you talking about when youre saying having the lights recessed? are you talking about having them sunk in a little bit? i was thinking that would look cool, like 1/4-1/2" sunk into the housing.... who knows....

There isn't enough room to sink the lights on a sedan or coupe trunk without cutting metal frame behind the lights larger.
The corners have a little more room though.

I have the wiring diagram for the sedan. I just have to find it.

Those look neat. They also make those lamps that are lit up by led's rather than a bulb, also they make a clearish white lamp exactly like the orange and red lamps. The school buses around here have those small red and clear lamps on the back and they are pretty bright.

where can you get premade boards with high intensity led's already that are pre fabricated.
