i had a couple real big amps and now im gonna get some smaller ones and go for SQ... i am changing it up as well... i have sold my amps and Thumps and i still have my speakers and my JBL subs. but i am gonna change it up a bit to get some nice clean sound. im gonna go with some nice amps and subs... the JBL's are too big... and a nice head with a cross over system...

my current setup, a random mix of stuff i got for free or extremely cheaply:

Kenwood deck - KDC-6015, 45x4, 1.7v pre-out - 3 years ago, $200, didn't know as much about audio then, was an upgrade to a kenwood deck i already had
Pioneer 125w 6.5" components - TS-G1640 - free
Pioneer IMPP 400w 12" sub - unsure of the id #, don't wanna take it out the box, not even sure the sticker is still on -
$150, included box and 3 year warranty
Marathon 250w 2-channel amp - no id # on amp, id on board had 250 on it, assuming 250w output - free
Audiovox 150w 2-channel amp - AMP-590 - free

currently, the sub is run off the marathon amp, and the components off the deck... the audiovox amp was just recieved, not sure what it's gonna run... i'm considering 2 possibilites, but most likely it will run the pioneer components...

if i were to build a nice system, cost not an issue, i would go with a full kenwood or full alpine setup... with maybe an exception in the sub department...

Eclipse 200 watt amp (4ch) to power JL Speakers
Eclipse 12" Aluminum Sub (DVC)

Great Overall sound, the mids/highs can keep up with the bass almost all the way up. (without distorting)
