I thought I had all this figured out before, but I ended up not being happy with my home depot oil separator, and with my valve cover breather, I also had to move some things around, the breather/catch can came about because I needed a place not only for a breather filter, but a way to run the fuel bowl vent on each carb, I ended up making a bracket for the catch can that had ports machined into it, this lets me connect a fuel bowl vent to each side, and then a -6 line for the vents exits out the bottom. Everyone is probably going to wonder why my fuel bowls are connected to my catch can, but they actually aren't.

oil separator

It seems like the home depot separator I got is just too restrictive, and not enough capacity, I can't find anything for sale that's decent, and doesn't cost a fortune, so I just started from scratch. I'm reconfiguring the PCV on my manifold, on mine, it's threaded on the manifold end, so I can just run an aluminum street elbow at the top of the can, to a barbed fitting, and connect the PCV right there, then it's a simple -6 braided line to manifold vacuum from the valve. After a couple of failed concepts, one which flew out of the lathe, this is what I'm up to so far. as of right now, the fitting needs to be welded to the top, the bottom of the tank needs to be tig welded, bottom connection needs to be tig welded, the top ring is pressed in, with rubber washers and some rtv, it should be vacuum tight, I want to tig the bottom so I don't get oil leaks

Very slick! Im all about custom parts. Sets your car just that much further from being like everyone elses. B-)

Trhere are finished pics on the facebook page, I can't post pics on the phone, our internet is off since we are basically shit broke, this is a project out of materials I had around already so I figured I would get. It done

the oil separator is done, other then mounting it in the car, when I can get the mounting bracket, This system is basic, it ties into the factory separator, and connects to both the PCV system, and will connect to a morosso exhaust evacuation system, both systems operate at different rpm ranges and will compliment each other, the pcv valve is right on the side of the can, and will connect with a braided line to the manifold, I was concerned about the exhaust system, pulling fresh mixture backwards out of the intake, under full throttle conditions, since intake manifold vacuum would be zero, as the throttle was opened. I ran a high quality check valve inline with manifold vacuum , to solve this problem.

both systems can now only pull vacuum at the separator can.

Jeez Lost, with the stuff you do, it's a wonder you aren't working for NASA building space stations.

lots of updates
The can fits, and all the hoses will clear everything, this cleans up the way I had the pcv on the manifold a lot.

-10 hose from the factory separator to the new can

the short -6 hose is the one to the manifold, I'm out of hose, so this was to check clearance

this is where I need to add a street elbow to connect the pcv hose[b/]

[b]I got riid of the plastic fittings on the catch can

I think it looks much cleaner without the hose going over the manifold

thats the 90, I found a company that makes these completely clear, so I change it to one of those and be able to see if oil is making it's way to the PCV valve http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b205/moultriemanicmechanic/breather%20tank%20and%20catch%20can/IMG_0860.jpg?t=1371440606
