I need some help trying to decide what kinda of muffler to get. I want to know, which provides the most horse power gains and has the best sound, I want something pretty loud. Cost doesn't really matter, as along as it will last for awhile.

With out dyno print out's your going to get a lot of opinions. Grassroots motorsports magizine did do a test on a car simular to ours. They dynoed several combo's, including the pacesetter cat-back. Their were difference's, the pacesetter didn't really offer much. I'll try and find the issue and I'll tell you some real world numbers.

got to get the rest of the package to gain the hp.....header..air flow...fuel....before a "performance exhaust will give you any real hp..
You dont gain hp by sticking on just exhaust..the others play a big role in performance..

Oh and i forgot...add a better cam too...get one for more hp or tourque..depending on your preferences...this willl provide better hp when you put on a better muffler....

Dynomax super turbo all the way and get mandrel bent piping it is much better. I have had a dynomax thrush( ithink) with crimp a pacesetter and a mandrell with a superturbo and the surper turbo is the best sorry about all typing errors I jsut gave blood and I am too lazy to check my spelling I am also very tired but oh well in 56 more days I will do it again gave over a gallon by now.

which of the dynomax sizes will fit easy, or does it not matter

well I have the 2.5 in and the 2.5 out but I have a larger cat back get the one with an ofset in (meaning hole not in middle) and a center out and you should have no problems.

2.5 inch piping is actually a tad big for our cars....what u need is a good straight pipe and a free flowing muffler.....i find that a 2 inch (inside diameter) pipe flowing to an Apexi N1 muffler produces some good power up top without losing too much down low. Most people i know think that bigger is better, when in reality its not. U need the right diameter piping to help keep the exhaust gas velocity up, which improves scavenging from the cylinder....he faster u can get the gas to go, the more suction it has pulling out the residual gases out of the cylinder, which makes more room for clean charge of air. A 2.5inch pipe will only make power if u bump up the compression and stuff. The muffler should be straight through to allow little backpressure and also to help keep the velocity up...it might be alittle louder, but it works...i raced a guy with bolt ons like mine...and i pulled away from him. He had custom 2.5 inch exhaust, and a dynomax muffer....

no I have 2.25 inch piping but I have an adapter. I was just saying going up .25 inch is easier than .5 also my pipe walls are 16 gauge.

Sport Compact car did a dyno run on a 95 civic hatch with a b16. They showed gains of 12 peak hp and 12 lbs of torque with the Apexi "Cwest" exhaust. I belive its called Cwest or something like that. I'll look for the issue.

I got a pilot on mine, with a hi-flo cat, and new piping...VERY noticable difference. The biggest gain was in the high-end, but i could feel an increase in torque. I love my exhuast...very loud, but not to high pitched, it also came with a removable silencer, which has saved my ass from the neighbors a few times. my 2 cnts:argue:

I think 2.5 custon or 2.0 custon with a flowmaster is ideal ,works for me . low noise until rev and lots of power

Yes, a flowmaster hits the spot well:D (Especially the 50 series w/deltaflow)

is there any exhaust that would help out now with the a20a setup, but also be worth having once an engine is swapped (prolly b16)... would 2.25 work for both setups? i dont want to upgrade it once, and then a second time when i get a swap done! lol
