Why does my car not have a brake light in the back window? only the tails light up. There isn't even a space where it should be. Its not a problem but my 88 had it and i was wondering if anyone elses accord was like this or not? My car is an 86 LX if that matters.

The third brake light was a requirement the US Department of Transportation on all CARS starting with the 87 model year. Trucks and SUV's had the requirement added later. It is quite possible that cars made for outside the US market did not have the lights in the earlier years of the requirement.

If you look at cars from that time period a lot of them look like the light was put in as an afterthought while later cars had them better incorporated into the body of the car. The one on our Oasis is a string of LED's, much like the ones in the Honda factory rear spoilers. I like the LED's much better than the single bulb lights. Easier to see and they will pretty much never burn out.

yours is a canadian model, thus exempt from the US DOT CHMSL standard.

My car is a canadian model and it has one but oddly enough my car also has wiring on my trunk lid for a wing light, making me wonder if my car came with a wing, had a wing put on or honda just put it there
