if the '86-'87 lxi's have smaller rotors than the '88-'89's, can you swap them out if i use bigger wheels ?

Yeah, you can get the bigger rotors, but you need the other calipers too. 14" or bigger wheels.
The proportioning valve and master cylinder are also different I think. If you want it to really work right you should get everything.

hey now, I don't know what the FAQ says, but everything listed is correct, HOWEVER you also need the entire front knuckle, otherwise, you're in for a big suprise when you try and put that bigger (deeper) rotor on ur original knuckle.

i just want to say that only DX and LX came with a small brake rotors. LXI and SEI had big ones.
besides changing rotors you will need to change master sylinder
